A Southeast Texas Army veteran received a replacement Tuesday for a flag that was destroyed by vandals over the Memorial Day weekend.

U.S. Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) sent a new American flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol to replace the one destroyed outside the home of former paratrooper Justin Harrison over the weekend.

Lanie Brown, Regional Director of Community Relations for Congressman Babin's office presented the flag to Harrison at his home.

Harrison found his American Flag on his front lawn and ripped to shreds when he awoke Sunday morning.

“Pretty heart wrenching whenever I saw it,” Harrison said. “To know someone would do something like that especially on a weekend like this weekend to someone like me, the veterans who served. It kind of hurt me, deep down in my heart.”

When Harrison received the flag he stated "Man, I'm so grateful right now. I can't even explain it. It's one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me honestly."
