Recipient: Angelina County Airport
Amount of request: $3,763,156.05
Request explanation: To serve current business aviation better but also allow Angelina County and the City of Lufkin to bring in bigger companies that typically fly bigger jets. Also as a hub of Hurricane relief for the State we could more adequately serve the State of Texas in this critical role. There are only two designated hurricane relief locations in the state. Angelina County and the City of Lufkin are being very aggressive in bringing new and bigger business into our region. The best way that we can accomplish this is to have an airport facility that can accommodate the needs of these companies. Our Runway is to short for the safe operation of C130's were are used in Hurricane relief. For these transport planes to be used here at Angelina County Airport at this time they have to take off with a light load.
