Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Brian Babin (TX-36) issued the following statement today in response to a U.S. Federal judge’s decision in Texas to temporarily block President Obama’s executive amnesty actions:

“Today’s ruling is a major victory in our fight to restore the rule of law in the United States of America. President Obama’s decision to grant amnesty through unilateral executive action makes a mockery of our laws. We are a nation of immigrants, but as we are reminded by this court decision, we are also a nation of laws and the President cannot act alone. This court decision is an important first step, but more must be done to restore the rule of law. We need to secure our borders first and foremost, and I will continue to fight for border security as the first step to address our nation's broken immigration system.”
