Babin Commends the Signing of the USMCA

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) released the following statement after the long-awaited signing of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) by President Trump today. This new trade agreement will replace the outdated 26-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

“After more than a year of hard work to push this incredible trade agreement, the USMCA has officially been signed into law,” said Babin. “Trade with Mexico and Canada supports more than 114,000 jobs in Texas and 12 million nationwide, making this updated agreement crucial to the success of our economy. I’m proud to report that the USMCA is an enormous win for U.S. farmers, businesses, workers, and families.

“This historic agreement will create 176,000 new American jobs and generate $68 billion in economic growth. President Trump has delivered on another promise, and there’s no doubt that the USMCA will make our nation and its people thrive.”
