Babin Leads Texas House Republican Delegation in Letter to Abbott, Paxton Regarding Colony Ridge

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) led the Texas House Republican delegation in a letter to Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton regarding disturbing reports about Colony Ridge in Liberty County.

“My Texas colleagues and I are incredibly concerned with the reports we’re seeing about Colony Ridge,” said Rep. Brian Babin, House Border Security Caucus Co-Chair. “This appears to be a symptom of our nation’s failure to secure our borders. We believe the state should thoroughly investigate this issue and will continue seeking legislative solutions to address illegal immigration and prevent future situations like Colony Ridge.”

“Sanctuary cities have no place in Texas and the Colony Ridge development outside of Houston needs to be stopped immediately,” said Rep. Ronny Jackson (TX-13). “This haven for criminal cartels is terrorizing the state and law-abiding citizens by allowing drugs to flourish and prolific crime to be bypassed. Texans need answers on why this lawlessness is being allowed in our state that we are concurrently defending from illegal invasion at the southern border.”

“The crisis at our southern border continues to engulf the state of Texas,” said Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11). “This so-called ‘Colony Ridge’ development is enabling dangerous cartels to shop in our backyard without criminal background checks or proof of legal residency in our country. I am proud to stand with Rep. Babin and the entire Texas Delegation in opposition to this development while protecting our local communities.”

“In the wake of Colony Ridge’s troubling developments, Texans deserve answers,” said Rep. Michael Burgess (TX-26). “I stand with my fellow members from Texas to demand a thorough investigation. With reports of escalating violent crime across the state and county, and a surge in high-profile murders, it is clear that urgent action is needed. The recent record-breaking drug busts in Liberty County and ongoing drug cartel activity underscore the pressing need for a serious inquiry. The safety and well-being of our community and state are paramount, and it is time for state and local law enforcement officials to step up and address these critical issues head-on.”
