Congressman Dr. Brian Babin, representative of Texas’ 36th Congressional District of the 114th Congress, said he wants to work with local community leaders.

“It is our duty to make county, city and country a better place for our children,” Babin said during a Meet and Greet held at the Brown Center in Orange.

Babin said he is honored to be chosen by the voters to represent them in Washington.
“I have a ‘to do’ list in Congress,” Babin said. “I am an advocate for our ports. The Orange port is very important to the economy of South East Texas.”

Babin also announced the committees and subcommittees he is on such as:

House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
Subcommittee on Highways and Transit
Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials
Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment

House Committee on Science, Space and Technology
Subcommittee on Space
Subcommittee on Environment

“The Keystone Pipeline bill is on the presidents desk,” Babin said. “It is a bipartisan bill which when signed will created 42,000 jobs in this country.”

He said congress has already passed 42 bills in the first six to seven weeks of the current session.

Bills he has cosponsored include Keystone XL Pipeline Act, Hire More Heroes Act of 2015, Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2015, Save American Workers Act of 2015, ObamaCare Repeal Act, Patient Freedom Act of 2014 and Repeal Executive Amnesty Act of 2015.

“As a dentist, I have seen first hand the damage to the doctor/patient relationship due to the Affordable Care Act,” Babin said. “I have voted to repeal it.”

Babin asked community leaders in attendance to help with direct input on the issues for the bills.

“Has it been challenging? Yes,” Babin said. “But as a dentist, I get to the root of the problem.”
