DEER PARK, TX – U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) released the following statement regarding the protests and violent rioting taking place across America:

“We must restore order,” said Babin. “The tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of law enforcement deserves an investigation and accountability for the police officers involved, which President Trump has called for. However, that in no way excuses the rioting, theft, and arson of criminals and thugs who appear to have a free pass to openly commit their crimes of violence in Minneapolis and other cities around the country – including right here in Houston. Unfortunately, the police and fire departments are nowhere to be found amidst some of the worst violence. Local and state elected officials absolutely have the duty to restore law and order, protect businesses and citizens, and arrest those responsible for their violence and criminal activity.”
