WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) issued the following statement after the passage of the HEROES Act (H.R. 6800) in the House of Representatives. Congressman Babin voted no on this legislation.

“Once again, Speaker Pelosi has placed the safety and wellbeing of American citizens at the bottom of her list of priorities,” said Babin. “House Democrats have used every opportunity possible to exploit the ongoing national economic crisis and global pandemic to push their radical, Green New Deal, open-border, socialist agenda. It’s absolutely disgraceful that the Speaker of the House and a narrow majority of Representatives knowingly ignored the needs of U.S. businesses and the American people for the sake of messaging. 

“This bill never stood a chance at becoming law – Senate Majority Leader McConnell will not take it up and even if it somehow passed, President Trump would veto it. For that, I am relieved.”
