U.S. Congressman for District 36 Brian Babin held an Open House and ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of his new office in the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region building, located at 203 Ivy Ave. Monday (May 4).

Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton, LaPorte Mayor Louis Rigby, Mont Belvieu Mayor Nick Dixon and Morgan’s Point Mayor Michel Bechtel watched as Babin cut two ribbons representing the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce and the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, along with a traditional red ribbon.

“This is a very notable day,” Babin said. “Many people wanted this District office in Harris County. From Crosby down to Seabrook, there are many great areas with a lot of industry and key folks. But as a whole, Deer Park is a vibrant community with a lot going on and is centrally located right off of 225. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms.”

Babin thanked his staff and the members of the Chambers of Commerce and promised to, “Make sure Washington D.C. knows what our Southeast Texas values are.”

Babin introduced Deer Park teen Keagan Denney as the winner of the 2015 Congressional Art Contest, sponsored by Babin’s office. The theme this year was Human Spaceflight. Denney’s piece entitled, “It Began with a Dream,” was voted the winner at Space Center Houston last week.

Babin’s office has an open door policy, and citizens and elected officials alike are invited to drop by any time.
