LUMBERTON - In this disaster recovery town hall, dozens of residents had questions for FEMA, SBA, FSA, NFIP and other state and federal agencies.

Jim Campbell feels he's getting the run around during his recovery from Harvey.

"The people we have talked to so far really haven't done a whole lot to explain clearly what's required and what's going to happen so hopefully, we get answers to those questions," Campbell said.

Campbell lives in Pinewood near Sour Lake and received over four feet of water in his home.

Congressman Brian Babin voiced his thoughts on the process to get FEMA relief, and on the lack of answers to some questions at the town hall.

"If we can cut through a lot of this bureaucracy, that would help," Babin said as the crowd applauded his response.

Congressman Babin feels that the need for shelters and healthcare to those affected is the top priority.

"We're East Texans and we're going to stick together but we need to make sure that our government agencies are doing what they're supposed to," Babin said.

“There's a lot of confusion, there's a lot of rumors, there's been some non-response, there are some folks under impressions that may not be accurate. And we want these agencies, state and federal to be able to answer the questions that a lot of these people have," Babin said.

Campbell was happy to see that Rep. Babin was taking initiative.

"It never hurts to have a friend in the government for sure, but hopefully he can get some doors open for us a little sooner than normal, that's all we can really hope for," Campbell said.

Rep. Babin will hold three more town hall meetings.
