Babin: Stopping Guantanamo Jihadists from Coming to U.S. Prisons
After seven years, President Obama remains determined to fulfill his dangerous campaign promise of closing the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba. This time he announced plans to bring the most dangerous jihadists to U.S. prisons. Ironically, on the same day of Obama’s announcement, we learned that a former Guantanamo Bay detainee was arrested in Morocco for recruiting jihadists. Many of those already released from the Gitmo prison have returned to the battlefield to fight against Americans troops and carry out jihadi attacks. In fact, nearly 30% of all detainees released by this Administration have returned to terrorist activities.

Placing the most ardent terrorists in U.S. prisons is not a credible solution. Included in this group are the likes of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. This will allow such jihadists to infiltrate and radicalize criminals within our own borders. Simply put, Obama's latest proposal is dead on arrival – and I'll work tirelessly to block any attempt by this President to use executive action to close Guantanamo and bring these terrorists to U.S. soil.

Astronaut Scott Kelly Back on Earth After Year-long Space Mission
It's with great excitement that we welcome back astronaut Scott Kelly to Earth after his nearly year-long mission aboard the International Space Station. This historic mission will enable scientists to more closely understand the long-term physiological impacts on the human body relative to long-term space exploration. As the U.S. continues its plans for deeper space explorations missions to the moon and Mars, it’s critical that we first understand the physiological risks and impacts on our astronauts in order to mitigate them on future space missions. I commend Scott for his dedication and sacrifices in order to further human spaceflight and exploration. I look forward to talking with him about this incredible mission soon.

Snap-shots from the Week
Had the privilege of visiting with Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr this week at the Conservative Opportunity Society breakfast. Sheriff Clarke is an outspoken critic - who has refused to kowtow to political correctness - in calling out those who have incited violence towards our nation’s law enforcement officers.
It was an honor to serve as a guest speaker at last weekend's 61st Annual Kirbyville Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Congrats to Kirbyville High School Principal Dennis Reeves on being named Citizen of the Year. To view more pictures, please click here.
