Babin Joins President Trump as He Signs New Space Policy Directive on Missions to Moon and Mars
As the Chairman of the House Space Subcommittee, I was proud to join President Trump on Monday at the White House as he signed Space Policy Directive – 1 urging NASA to return Americans to the Moon and encourage human space exploration to Mars and beyond By signing this space policy directive and refocusing America’s space program on human spaceflight exploration, the President has ensured America’s leadership in space and prioritized our return to the Moon and future manned missions to Mars. Under the President’s leadership, we are now on the verge of a new generation of American greatness and leadership in space – leading us to once again launch American astronauts on American rockets from American soil.

President Trump's new space policy directive calling for American astronauts to return to the Moon is welcome news — and as Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA) and I explain in our op-ed in SpaceNews, it has bipartisan support in Congress. Decades after Apollo 17 left the moon, some may ask: Why go back? What more can we learn? With public and private interest in space growing, we have a unique opportunity to ignite a passion for scientific research and discovery, spur innovation in the private sector, and use the moon as a stepping stone to reach Mars. Trump Administration Successfully Rolls Back Expensive and Ineffective Regulations
President Trump and Congress have been working overtime to rollback burdensome and costly Obama-era regulations. The Trump Administration announced this week it has now successfully eliminated 22 regulations for each new one imposed – far surpassing the goal of cutting two for every one. By slashing these ineffective regulations, it has resulted in $8.1 billion in savings and helped unleash the American economy and job creators. This has resulted in a 17-year low in unemployment, an all-time high in the stock market and over 1.5 million new American jobs created.

House Votes to Increase Oversight and Accountability Over Iranian Regime
This week, the House passed the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act (H.R. 1638), bipartisan legislation that will ensure public disclosure of Iranian assets that are being used to finance terrorism against America and our allies. By making this information public, it will provide a valuable window into the corrupt and illegal business practices of Iran’s government and military leaders.

Iran has a long history of sowing discord and sponsoring terrorism around the world. For decades, American citizens have been targets of Iran-backed terrorists and they remain one of the largest and most dangerous state sponsors of terrorism. This legislation provides another important to tool in our efforts to hold Iran accountable.
