Happy Memorial Day
The freedoms that we cherish today do not come from words written on a document, they come from the men and women willing to sacrifice all to uphold those words. We honor you. While absent from our presence physically, they remain with us in spirit permanently. On this Memorial Day, please join me in remembering those who have paid the ultimate price in service to our country. Throughout this long weekend, I pray we never forget that freedom is not free. John 15:13
 The Political Theater Continues
Just another day in the Democrat majority! More time wasted on talks of impeachment, while our borders continue to be overrun, our infrastructure continues to crumble, and new trade deals that will benefit American industry continue to be ignored. Political theater is running this majority, and America and its people will suffer for it.

Fighting Anti-Semitism
For months, House Democrat leaders have refused to hold their members responsible for hateful, anti-Semitic comments made toward Israel, Jewish Americans, and their supporters across our nation. So I am proud to join many of my colleagues in standing with one of our strongest allies, Israel, by signing onto the anti-BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) discharge petition introduced in the House last week.

This discharge petition needs 218 signatures to force Speaker Pelosi to bring the anti-BDS bill, that recently passed the Senate with bipartisan support, to the House floor for a vote. With most Republicans in the House expected to sign on, we only need a few dozen Democrats to stand up for their districts and communities by joining with us. I am confident we can get that done.

Anti-Semitism should NEVER be tolerated, and it is past time for the Democrat majority to hold their members accountable!
Honoring the Tragedy at Santa Fe High School with a Solution
Last Saturday marked one year since the horrific tragedy occurred at Santa Fe High School. Those who were taken from us, and the many others who were injured, are held dear in our hearts.

How many innocent lives need to be lost before we say, “enough is enough” and finally do something meaningful to prevent these atrocities from occurring? We have the solution. Watch the video below (or visit babin.house.gov/taps) to learn more

The Border Crisis Continues to Be Ignored
It is simple: the longer that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats ignore the crisis at our southern border, the closer our borders get to complete collapse. House Democrats are gambling with our national sovereignty by doing nothing to address this urgent situation.

More than 200,000 aliens have been apprehended illegally crossing into the U.S. in the last TWO MONTHS alone! How many more will the Democrats allow in? It is time they do the job they swore an oath to their constituents they would and come to the negotiating table so we can secure our borders and fix our broken immigration system.
Remembering Chief Colabe III
I was deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of a great leader, Mikko Colabe III Clem Fain Sylestine, Chief of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Tribe of Texas.
The son of a Chief himself, and a direct descendant of the first Chief Colabe who served the tribe in the early 19th century, Chief Colabe III was a dedicated public servant who gave much of his ninety-one years to the betterment of the Alabama-Coushatta and educating the children of Texas, serving as a teacher throughout the state from the early 1950s to 1988. He took up the mantle of leadership for the tribe a few years later in 1995, where he served as Second Chief. In 2014, he was elected Principal Chief, a position he retained until his death.

The loss of such an upstanding individual will be sorely felt, and all East Texas mourns his passing.
 WWII Marine Reception
The three Merchant Marines pictured below, Gerard Driscoll, Charles Mills, and Eugene Barner, all served during WWII. Kay Morrison (pictured in red) calls herself "Rosie the Welder" because she spent her time welding ships during the Second World War.
In WWII, the men of the Merchant Marines were civilian volunteers who transported the vast amount of supplies, equiptment, and troops needed to fight and win the war across the ocean. Thousands were killed, wounded, or held as POWs.

As a former Merchant Mariner myself, I am proud to have met these heroes and am extremely thankful for their service this Memorial Day weekend.
Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment
On Tuesday, we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the House passing the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote. I was very proud to join my colleagues in commemorating such a momentous day in our nation’s history and remembering the courageous women who made it possible.
  Citizens for Space Exploration Reception
One of the great privilages of representing Texas's 36th District in Congress has been serving in my role as the Republican Leader on the House Space Subcommittee.
I enjoyed meeting all of the space advocates from across the country, especially those from the great state of Texas at the Citizens for Space Exploration Reception on Wednesday.
Congratulating  Laci Kaye Booth
I am proud to see Livingston native, Laci Kaye Booth, make it to the top five on American Idol.

She represented Southeast Texas well as she blessed viewers across the nation with her God-given talent.
