A Disappointing Decision By NASA
I am disappointed by the decision from NASA to not place the lunar lander program management at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). Marshall Space Flight Center does tremendous work for our nation’s space program, but the knowledge base and skill set for this task unquestionably resides at JSC where the Apollo lunar lander program was successfully managed. Earlier this week, I joined Senators Cruz and Cornyn in sending a letter to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine requesting that this decision be reconsidered.

New DHS Rule to Improve America's Immigration System
I applaud the final rule issued on Monday by the Department of Homeland Security to ensure aliens seeking to enter and remain in our great nation have the skills and capabilities to support themselves.

Illegal aliens have placed a burden on American taxpayers for too long. Self-sufficiency has been a crucial ingredient in achieving the American Dream since our nation’s birth. We are a compassionate country, but our immigration system MUST work better – President Trump is making that happen. If only House Democrats would allow Congress to do the same.
Commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Mexico City Policy
Thirty-five years ago in Mexico City, President Ronald Reagan’s representative at the United Nation’s International Conference on Population declared to the world that the United States would no longer financially support abortion in developing nations. America believes in the sanctity of all lives, including those beyond our borders, and while we have fought to protect the unborn here at home, the policy unveiled in Mexico City has helped ensure that our fight does not stop here.

I am proud to join many of my colleagues in supporting Rep. Biggs’ resolution to commemorate the 35th anniversary of this important policy and grateful that the Trump Administration has reinstated it. I pray Congress takes action to pass the Mexico City policy into law soon.

Israel Bars Reps. Tlaib and Omar From Entering Country
It comes as no surprise that Israel blocked Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from being able to enter their country. These U.S. Representatives proudly support the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement and repeatedly state their dislike for our greatest Middle Eastern ally.

Why should Israel allow either Congresswoman to cross over their borders when both continue to make it known that they wish the very nation no longer exists?
Shameful Actions in Philadelphia
It is extremely sad that police officers have to worry about being hit with objects and harassed while they place their lives on the line to protect those very same people. In a shootout on Wednesday that lasted more than eight hours and resulted in six officers being wounded – you would think the crowd surrounding the scene would show more support. The actions of those involved are shameful.

Remembering Joe Tortorice Jr.
Jason's Deli has been a Babin family restaurant of choice for a long time. The amount of their soft serve ice cream I have consumed over the years is probably best left unsaid. I was saddened to learn of the passing of its founder, Joe Tortorice Jr. earlier this week, and my prayers remain with his family, friends, and thousands of employees at this difficult time.
