 Happy Easter

Today, we gather with family and friends to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I pray that God blesses you with a very Happy Easter. May we never forget God’s eternal love and the undeserved sacrifice He bestowed upon us. On this Easter Sunday, let us also remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who are serving in faraway lands to keep us free and safe. I hope you have a blessed and meaningful Easter surrounded by the ones you love most.

Little Cypress Mauriceville's 409 Strong Celebration
We are still in the midst of recovery in East Texas following Harvey's devastation. The LCM Foundation's 409 Strong Celebration gave us an opportunity to honor those responsible for swiftly responding to Harvey as well as those who are currently engaged in rebuilding Orange and surrounding counties. Some of these heroes include our Louisiana neighbors and the Cajun Navy. Thanks to everyone who continues to aid in the rebuilding efforts.
 JSW Steel Unveiling Event
This week, I attended the unveiling of plans by JSW Steel to expand their factory in Baytown by investing $500 million and creating hundreds of new jobs. Lower taxes and less burdensome regulation are benefitting our community, creating jobs here in America, and expanding U.S. steel production while reducing our reliance on foreign steel.
Babin Hosts Pastor Roundtable Discussions in Deer Park and Woodville

On several occasions each year I have the privilege of hosting Pastor Roundtable discussions with pastors from each region across the 36th Congressional District to discuss and pray over issues facing our churches, communities, and nation. These men and women of God, from different denominations, discussed and prayed over a wide range of issues.

Local Mayors Meeting
It was a pleasure meeting with local mayors from Morgan's Point, Baytown, La Porte, Deer Park, Taylor Lake Village, Spring Valley Village, and Mont Belvieu.  We discussed Harvey flood recovery, tax reform regulatory issues, the coastal spine, and infrastructure legislation, including my bill to ensure greater transparency and open competition on federal infrastructure projects.
Meeting the Silsbee ISD Robotics Teams
I was able to stop by Silsbee ISD to meet with the robotics teams from the Elementary, Middle, and High School campuses. It was amazing to see the ingenuity and passion for STEM and robotics demonstrated by these students.
Recognizing the Deer Park Art Park Players
My Regional Director of Community Relations, Beverly Ferguson, presented a copy of the Congressional Record recognizing the Deer Park Art Park Players and the Texas Non-Profit Theatre Annual Conference.
The Art Park Players hold the distinction of being the only year-round dinner theatre in the Greater Houston area and is truly one-of-a-kind in the State of Texas. The City of Deer Park Parks, The Art Park Players, and The Friends of the Art Park Players hosted the conference on Thursday, March 15th with theatre companies from across the State of Texas in attendance.
Californians Standing Up Against Sanctuary Cities
More Californians are standing up against illegal sanctuary cities and fighting for the safety and security of law abiding Americans. I hope to see more communities in California opt out of the state’s outrageous sanctuary city law.
