Resources Must Be Given and Loopholes Must Be Fixed |
I applaud the President for holding Mexico accountable on securing their southern border. We must also address the loopholes in our immigration laws that are being abused and allowing thousands to illegally enter our country and stay indefinitely. Appropriate resources must be given to our immigration enforcement professionals to enable them to deal with this crisis. Our current system hangs out an “All Welcome” sign on our border which will lead to the law-abiding taxpayer paying to educate, medicate, and incarcerate millions of illegal migrants. We cannot keep doing it!

Fighting to End Infanticide |
It is simple: babies born alive after a failed abortion should receive the same medical care as any other child or person and not just be left to die. It is tragic that this is even a debate, but it is, and the Democrat majority is refusing to address it. Infanticide should not be a partisan issue – it is horrific, barbaric, and totally unnecessary.
Every life matters and should be cared for, that is why I am very proud to have signed onto the discharge petition Congressman Steve Scalise filed to force Speaker Nancy Pelosi to bring the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962) to the House floor for a vote. Let us vote to end infanticide.

TAPS Act Update |
Recently, I visited with state and local law enforcement in all nine counties of TX-36 to discuss my bill, the TAPS Act (H.R. 838). I am thrilled that the TAPS Act is receiving significant bipartisan support and the endorsement of distinguished professionals as a substantive step to preventing targeted violence in our communities and schools BEFORE an attack occurs.
The TAPS Act will bring the Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management method—created by the Secret Service and successfully utilized for decades—to the state and local level. It is time we go beyond political rhetoric and put forth a real solution that will make us all safer.

KMCO Plant Explosion in Crosby |
We are all grateful to the men and women who responded to the KMCO plant explosion on Tuesday, that took the life of one and critically injured two others.
While the authority to address this emergency resides primarily with local officials and agencies, I pledge to do whatever is necessary on the federal level to ensure a thorough investigation. We need this information to prevent similar accidents in the future. My prayers continue to be with the families of those affected by this tragedy. |

Americans to Land on the Moon by 2024 |
The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology (SST) held a great hearing on Tuesday with NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine, to discuss NASA’s budget. Recently, the Trump Administration has declared that NASA will land American astronauts on the surface of the Moon in five years. This is a bold new goal, and I am looking forward to learning more about what will be required to accomplish it.
I am proud to serve as the Republican leader on the House Space Subcommittee, and will continue working to keep America the preeminent spacefaring nation in the world. |
Babin Talks Border Crisis on the Evening Edit |
I hope the President never has to close the southern border, but if that is what it takes to secure and preserve our country and protect the American people, then I would fully support him.
As long as Democrats continue to push aside the facts and remain ignorant to the humanitarian and national security crisis happening on our border, it will never be fixed. How long can a country remain sovereign if it no longer has borders? The Democrats’ messaging tactics lack any action and do nothing to help our nation or its people. |
Einstein the K-9 |
My staff and I were happy to welcome a fury visitor to the office this week! Einstein the K-9 in training demonstrated his narcotic-tracking skills with owner Jared Scoggan on Tuesday.
Jared is a police officer in Jasper, where he and his wife Krysta reside. Although Einstein has more training to undergo, he will be ready to patrol the neighborhoods of Jasper County soon enough!

Meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers |
I met with several members of the Army Corps of Engineers this week to discuss different projects they are currently working to complete in TX-36.

Democrats' Single-Payer Disaster |
Democrats are lying about pre-existing conditions to distract from their plan to strip health care from more than 150 million Americans - more than 13 million of those live in the Lone Star State.
Their socialst system has no choice or voice for patients. I am working with my Republican colleagues to lower costs and offer more choices, while protecting those with pre-existing conditions, to make America's health care system work better. |
