U.S. Congressman Brian Babin
Honoring the 2018 Congressional Art Competition Winners and Participants

It was an honor to host our annual Congressional Art Competition Awards Reception and Gallery Showing in Dayton last Saturday. I was impressed by the talented artwork created by high school students across the 36th District of Texas. We had more than 50 submissions for this year’s theme of “Hurricane Harvey Through Your Eyes” and couldn’t have asked for better artwork. Congratulations to the 2018 first place winner, Juliann Dooley of Warren High School, whose artwork, "Humanity," will be proudly displayed in the U.S Capitol. The works from second and third place winners, Fredy Rubio of Crosby High School and Rachael Matthews of Deer Park High School, will be displayed in our Washington D.C. office. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s competition.

Trump is Taking Border Security Seriously. I'm 100% Supportive

I appeared on Fox Business’s ‘Risk & Reward’ to talk about immigration, including President Trump’s refugee executive order at the Supreme Court. It's time to stop liberal judges and allow President Trump to protect American citizens.

House Unanimously Approves American Space Commerce Free Enterprise Act

The House unanimously passed a bill I co-authored, the American Space Commerce Free Enterprise Act (H.R. 2809), signaling loud and clear that America is open for business in space. This is a common-sense bipartisan bill that streamlines the regulatory process, limits government intrusion, promotes American innovation and investment, protects national security and satisfies our Outer Space Treaty obligations. U.S. leadership in space, including commercial space ventures, is a vital part of our economic competitiveness.  H.R. 2809 takes an important step in maintaining America's dominance in space exploration.

Celebrating Small Businesses

April 29 – May 5 is Small Business Week - an opportunity to applaud all of the innovators and entrepreneurs who contribute to the American economy and our own 36th District communities. I am working hard to promote common sense policies that will help these job-creators thrive. One of the ways this has been accomplished is through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. According to the NFIB, small businesses are the most optimistic they’ve been in more than 30 years because of tax cuts, and it’s no surprise. Small businesses now have the freedom and resources to grow, invest in their workers, increase benefits, create more jobs and keep more of their pay, all thanks to the tax package passed by Congress in December.
