Orlando Terrorist Attack Another Sobering Reminder of Threat We Face From Radical Islamists
The Orlando terrorist attack is yet another sobering reminder that our nation is under attack from Islamic Jihadists. This follows similar terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, Chattanooga, Ft. Hood and Boston. As our hearts and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones, it is critical that we begin to take the necessary actions to protect the American people from such evil. I’m disappointed that President Obama once again suggested gun control as the solution, because that simply diverts attention from the underlying problem which is the ideology that motivates Islamic Jihadist.

For nearly a year, I have been leading the charge in Congress to halt our refugee program and have secured the support of 85 of my colleagues. With nearly 900 ISIS-related investigations ongoing across America, it is long overdue that we push the stop button on the failed refugee resettlement program. Clearly, this program is failing the American people and putting the safety and security of the American people at greater risk. It’s time we put political correctness aside and end the President's rush to admit 10,000 poorly screened Syrian refugees before he leaves office.
Ending the Insanity of the Obama-Clinton-Kerry Iran Policy
I recently took to the House floor to call out the continued foolishness of the Obama-Clinton-Kerry engagement with Iran. Insanity is the only word to describe what we’ve seen. In January, the Obama cut a $1.7 billion check of U.S. taxpayer money to Iran. We have now learned that the entire amount went to fund Iran’s military and terrorism apparatus. This is the same Iran that routinely chants ‘death to America’, threatens to wipe Israel off the map, captures and humiliates our U.S. Sailors, and is responsible for killing hundreds of American troops. This is utter foolishness and these policies must end.

House Votes to Prevent IRS Abuse and Protect Free Speech
On Tuesday, the House passed the H.R. 5053, the Preventing IRS Abuse and Protecting Free Speech Act, which will help ensure the IRS can never again target conservative organizations or U.S. taxpayers for their personal, religious or political beliefs. It will also safeguards the First Amendment rights of all Americans and prevents further IRS abuse.

More than 100 Tea Party and Patriot groups were unfairly targeted by the IRS along with many other conservative organizations (Click here to see the full list). This is further evidence as to why I have called for the impeachment of the IRS Commissioner over his failure to fully cooperate in the Congressional investigation of the political targeting by the IRS. It's time this corrupt agency is held accountable.

WATCH: Babin Dismisses Idea that More Liberal Gun Laws Will Stop Islamic Jihad

To watch, please click here.
It’s a shame that this Administration and some in Congress would exploit the horrific Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando to push their liberal ideology to restrict 2nd Amendment rights. These Americans were murdered due to a radical jihadi ideology – and their proposals for more restrictive gun laws would have done nothing to stop that. We should be focusing on keeping these terrorists off our streets and out of our country – not attacking our constitutional rights.
Snap-shots from the Week
Our many thanks to our Washington, DC interns Sarah Reese, Beth Barber and Patrick Flanagan for all their hard work. We wish the very best to Patrick as he finished his internship this week. Patrick will be returning to Beaumont to continue his studies at Lamar University – where he is majoring in business. Patrick has a bright future ahead of him, and we were glad to have him with us in the office this past month.
With NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly, Capt. Mike Lopez-Alegria, and Capt. Chris Cassidy who testified at the House Space Subcommittee hearing on the health impacts of long duration human spaceflight.
