Defending the Unborn
Wednesday marked the tenth time that Republicans have asked for unanimous consent for the House to consider the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act – and for the tenth time Democrats have refused to allow a vote to protect the lives of innocent children. We will continue to ask again, but it is extremely disturbing that providing medical care to infants that survive an attempted abortion is not important enough to the Democrats to even allow a vote. These radical beliefs and blatant disregard for human life is not what the American people want or believe. It is simply inconsistent with American values. We must give a voice to those who cannot yet speak for themselves – the unborn – and the fact that this enormous responsibility continues to be ignored is not only inhumane, it is immoral.

While Democrats continue to support infanticide, we are finally making headway in defending the unborn after years of stalemate. With the Trump Administration finalizing the Protect Life rule, we can return the Title X Family Planning Program to its originally intended purpose of awarding grants to state health departments and family planning clinics for education, health screenings, infertility services, and counseling.

For too long these grants have been funneled to organizations like Planned Parenthood – the largest abortion provider in the US. No taxpayer should be forced to provide funding for abortion. The changes to the Title X program reinstate its true goal and ensure no more funds go to promoting, counseling, or referring clients to abortion services as a means of family planning.
President Trump's Progress with North Korea
The bold new tack President Trump has taken in dealing with North Korea has led to progress that was unthinkable little more than two years ago. We have a long way to go, but threats have stopped and there is now hope for a path to peace. Read my USA Today piece here.

More Show Votes with No Solutions
During this new Congress, Democrats have recklessly rushed forward with legislation purported to end gun violence but that will do nothing to alleviate mass violence. They have refused to listen to Republican ideas, or even bipartisan ideas, on how to solve this crisis.

They have moved ahead and passed bills that the Republican Senate has already announced will not receive committee consideration. The sad truth is that efforts by the Democrats thus far are simply messaging bills. These efforts may work when raising money, but they will do absolutely nothing to address the problems our society is suffering through.
Babin Receives the True Blue Award
It is an honor to once again be recognized by the Family Research Council (FRC) and receive their “True Blue” award for earning a perfect 100% on their annual scorecard for supporting pro-family legislation. I ran for Congress to promote conservative family values that will strengthen our nation. Ensuring that all human life is valued, Americans prosper, and religious liberty thrives remain top priorities of mine, and I thank FRC for their work in advancing these vital American ideals.
 Recognizing America's Debt
I am proud to cosponsor a resolution led by my friend Rep. Andy Biggs to recognize America’s $22 trillion national debt as a threat to our national security. Throughout my time in Congress, I have voted for responsible budgets that prioritize necessary spending, eliminate waste and end programs inappropriate for federal government expenditures.

Unfortunately, even as our national debt and its threat to future generations have ballooned, too few in Washington are willing to take tough votes necessary to curb spending and protect our solvency. It is important we recognize the threat associated with a $22 trillion – and growing – national debt. While it is doubtful Democrats allow a spending bill addressing this issue to move forward, I will continue advocating for responsible spending of taxpayer funds for as long as I am in Washington.
Babin Joins the Evening Edit
I discussed President Trump's national emergency declaration with Liz McDonald this week on the Evening Edit. The President has the leeway, given to him by Congress, to define a national emergency. President Trump would have preferred Congress do its job and is reluctantly making this declaration, but it had to be done. This is a national security crisis.

Atlas Air Flight 3581 Crash Update
Monday, I visited the site of the tragic Atlas Air Flight 3581 crash near Anahuac, TX, in Trinity Bay. I met with numerous first responders from Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers and others who have worked around the clock in very tough conditions. They have done a tremendous job.
The Texas Game Wardens escorted me from the operations center with Chambers County Commissioner, Jimmy Gore, via airboat to survey the crash site. I also met with the National Transportation Safety Board and FBI agents trying to determine the cause of the crash which took the lives of the three aircrew members. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families.
 Silsbee's Chamber of Commerce Banquet
It was wonderful to attend the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce Banquet Thursday evening.
Mark Henry (pictured below), Silsbee native, had a chance to share his inspiring journey of becoming an Olympic weightlifter, professional wrestler, and more. It is wonderful to hear incredible stories such as Mark’s, and watch as local folks follow their dreams to achieve incredible things.
We Must Know Who is Entering into our Country
Why do law enforcement agents across the country want to ensure we know who is entering the US across our Southern border? This brave Sherriff’s Deputy survived an attack on her life by a twice-deported illegal immigrant during a routine traffic stop—hundreds of miles from the border!

This brazen attack on a law enforcement officer showcases the danger an unsecured border poses to Americans across our nation, not only at the border itself. God bless the men and women in law enforcement who defend our homes, families and communities. They are as much at risk by an unsecure border as anyone.
 Visiting with Dr. Sebastian Gorka
I enjoyed the breakfast discussion with Dr. Sebastian Gorka (pictured below), former Deputy Assistant to President Trump this week. The subject was the illegal spying and unmasking of President Trump's campaign workers and administration appointees in attempt to overturn the 2016 presidential election and drive President Trump from office.
Dr. Gorka now has a national radio program which I had the opportunity to be a guest on last week.
Celebrating Texas Independence
Yesterday we celebrated Texas Independence Day, the anniversary of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. The 59 delegates who signed this document were settlers in land claimed by the Mexican government who sought the freedom to form their own system of government.
Texans of the Lone Star Republic were forced to take up arms to defend their newly declared freedom, and many died fighting for their right to self-govern. The Republic of Texas would join the United States in 1845 as the 28th state. Happy birthday, Texas!
