Last Sunday marked another historic day for America’s space effort! Congrats again to SpaceX and NASA on the safe return of U.S. astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken. I was in Florida watching their extraordinary launch in May, and I joined Administrator Jim Bridenstine, JSC Center Director Mark Geyer, my son, and grandsons at Johnson Space Center (JSC) to see the culmination of their very successful mission last weekend. I’m proud to have witnessed this most recent example of America’s continued leadership in space.
It’s the dawning of a new era in space for America.

| Honoring our Heroes on National Purple Heart Day |
Friday was National Purple Heart Day – a day in which America honors the brave men and women who were wounded or killed in action during their service in our Armed Forces.
It’s been 238 years since General George Washington created the Purple Heart Medal – our nation’s oldest military decoration. Since the American Revolution, approximately 1.8 million Purple Hearts have been awarded.
As the proud father of a Purple Heart recipient, please join me in forever saluting these heroes.
