Texas Begins to Thaw

I was in steady communication with state and local officials this week to ensure Texas got through the unprecedented winter storm. Progress continues to be made, and soon, our power systems will be fully functional again.

Although this was a once-in-a-century freeze, it’s apparent that work must be done to make certain that our state isn’t caught off-guard ever again – that includes a greater investment in natural gas, nuclear energy, and infrastructure.

This should serve as a wake up call for America – in times of disaster, it is critical that we have ample amounts of the only energy source that will undoubtedly get us through the unexpected: fossil fuels. If we had been more reliant on renewable energy sources, like our windmills that froze, circumstances would have been much worse.

To get to the bottom of what happened, I will be working with my colleagues, both in Texas and in D.C., to find solutions and rebuild a stronger system.

Now, our journey to recovery begins. I will continue to do everything I can to make certain Southeast Texas receives the resources necessary to speed this process along and get Texans back on their feet sooner rather than later. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of my offices if you need assistance.
Democrats Continue to Support Infanticide
Democrats continue to block the Born-Alive Act, which would end infanticide. However, 77% of Americans support this bill, proving that the Left’s radical abortion agenda is out of touch with reality.

Saving babies who survive botched abortions shouldn’t be partisan.

President Biden Partially Approves Gov. Abbott's Major Disaster Declaration
President Biden has partially approved Texas' request for a major disaster declaration. Currently, 77 of the 254 counties in Texas have been approved for FEMA Assistance.

Individuals and business owners in counties included in the President's declaration who sustained losses in the designated area can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or 1-800-462-7585.

America Should Not Rejoin the U.N. Human Rights Council
China, Russia, and Cuba – three of the worst human rights offenders – were awarded seats on the U.N. Human Rights Council, which destroys its credibility.

Seems simple enough to me that you should actually have to fight for the safety and rights of people to lead on this issue.

Rejoining the Paris Climate Accord Hurts Working Americans
Our carbon footprint has declined over the years because we’ve shifted toward cleaner energy creation and transport (i.e. pipelines). Until places like China and Russia address their pollution issues, deals like this one do little for the climate and instead hurt working Americans.

Biden Seeks to Grant Amnesty to 11 Million Illegal Aliens
Blanket amnesty for millions leads to more people making the dangerous trek across the border illegally to have babies here so they can become automatic citizens (“birth tourism”).

My bill, the Birthright Citizenship Act (H.R. 140), would stop this and restore the 14th Amendment’s true purpose.

The Biden Administration's To-Do List
The Biden administration's to-do list:

❌ Take away law-abiding citizens’ constitutional right to bear arms.

✅ Let illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes stay here for free, forever.

I will never stop fighting against these dangerous and un-American decisions.

Pelosi Needs to Give the Country Answers
Pelosi needs to give the country answers to pressing questions like:

1. Why did she deny Capitol Police’s request for National Guard assistance on January 4?

2. Why did it take her more than an hour to approve Capitol Police’s second request for National Guard help on January 6?

The Left's Finally Stopped Its Blind Praise of Gov. Andrew Cuomo
Finally, the Left has stopped its blind praise of Gov. Cuomo’s leadership.

I guess the media can no longer ignore the truth. He completely failed New York and neglected our nation’s most vulnerable in the worst way possible. He must be held accountable!

Cancelling the Keystone Pipeline Was a Huge Mistake
Cancelling the Keystone Pipeline was a huge mistake – this week's winter storm further proves that.

Fossil fuels are the only reliable energy source that we can truly depend on. The Democrats Green New Deal agenda puts us at risk of being unprepared for the unprecedented.

Biden Must Get Serious About Securing the Southern Border
138 illegal aliens, including one sexual predator, apprehended by CBP in just two separate incidents. Biden must get serious about securing the southern border – lives depend on it.

It's All Smoke and Mirrors
It’s all smoke and mirrors. Distract the American people with Donald Trump so they can quietly push through radical policies, spending bills worth trillions of dollars, and dangerous, highly unconstitutional initiatives.

Shh, maybe nobody noticed.
Early Estimates Show an Excess of $27 Million in Storm Damages
On Friday, I joined my colleagues in asking the President to approve Governor Abbott’s major disaster declaration.

This storm impacted all 254 counties in Texas with early estimates showing an excess of $27 million in damages.

Biden's swift approval will ensure recovery efforts begin unhindered.

Visiting Altus Hospital
It was a pleasure to visit Altus Hospital in Lumberton last week and to visit with health care professionals, doctors, and nurses who have worked tirelessly on the frontlines of the pandemic over the last year.
We owe our hard-working health care workers a great debt of gratitude.

Report Your Winter Storm Damages
The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is encouraging Texans to complete the Self-Reporting Damage Survey (linked below) to help the state identify damages across Texas and help emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that occurred during the recent winter weather. Reporting damage to TDEM is a voluntary activity, is not a substitute for reporting damage to an insurance agency, and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.

Remembering Rush Limbaugh
A true patriot and the godfather of conservative talk radio, Rush Limbaugh fought against liberalism/socialism and educated millions to its dangers until his last days. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on. I’m praying for his loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Rush.
