Rep. Babin Gets Answers for Veterans at Baytown Town Hall Meeting
- Presents Medals to Local Vietnam Veteran -
Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Baytown veterans town hall meeting on Tuesday at Lee College. The freedoms that we enjoy and hold so dear today are because of the men and women who have served our nation in uniform -- and we organized this special meeting with a variety of organizations to assist local veterans with their claims and discuss any issue they may be having. We were grateful to have officials from the Department of  Veterans Affairs (VA) on hand to not only hear concerns, but also to resolve specific issues.

This was our third veterans town hall in the past few months and the fifth we’ve held in the last 15 months. At these town hall meetings and through helping several hundred veterans with casework, we have heard firsthand about the specific problems our veterans are having with VA medical care, compensation and simply not getting answers to their questions. As a veteran myself, I believe it is absolutely critical that we do all that we can to ensure our veterans receive the respect and treatment they have undoubtedly earned and deserve.
During the town hall, we also had the chance to present Vietnam veteran Walter Eggers of Deer Park with numerous service medals he had never received. Our hardworking staff was honored to help ensure Mr. Eggers received these important military decorations.

Enjoyed touring the Vallourec facility in Houston, Texas and meeting with some of the employees. The mill produces steel pipe for petrochemical and manufacturing plants across the region.
Had a productive meeting with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District Commander Col. Lars Zetterstrom on storm surge protection and the Texas coastal barrier study
