Illness and Disease Rampant at Southern Border |
Illegal aliens are pouring across our southern border carrying illness and disease. While Border Patrol Agents battle sicknesses like scabies, strep throat, lice, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, and more – on top of doing their extremely difficult jobs – DEMOCRATS STILL REFUSE TO ACT. What happens when a disease like Ebola comes into the US? Would that even be enough for them to finally get serious about securing the border?

Attending the White House Picnic |
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted a wonderful White House Picnic on Friday evening. This year, my brother Philip and niece Hannah were able to join Roaxanne and me – we all had a terrific time. There was great weather, beautiful music, and most important of all delicious food!
Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence were in attendence as well. I appreciate the leadership and integrity continuously displayed by the Vice President as he works alongside President Trump to make America thrive and its citizens safe.

Helping the House Judiciary Committee and Media Get Back on Track |
This week, the Presidential harassment circus came to our front door - literally. Dozens of Capitol Hill reporters camped outside of our Washington, DC office all day Wednesday covering the closed-door US House Committee on the Judiciary - Democrats interview going on across the hall of former Trump Administration official Hope Hicks, who left the White House more than a year ago and now lives and works in Los Angeles.
This is the same Judiciary Committee that is responsible for producing legislation to fix our broken immigration system and address the humanitarian and national security crisis at the Southern Border. Instead, this is what they are wasting time, committee resources, and taxpayer money on.
To try and help get Judiciary Chairman Congressman Jerry Nadler and his mainstream media partners back on track, my office distributed the article below (link) by the Washington Examiner laying out in extraordinary, frightening detail how our Border Patrol and other law enforcement agents are being exposed on a daily basis to disease and illness from illegal immigrants pouring over the border by the thousands. Sadly, instead of reporting a REAL story most chose to remain outside of a closed door all day.

What Does Medicare for All Mean? |
Americans have questions about socialized medicine and “Medicare for All” in particular – and rightfully so. How are people supposed to understand something when the Democrats pushing the idea will not be honest about what it is or how it will impact the country?
Let’s be clear about what a one-size-fits-all health care plan would do:
✅ Cost $32 trillion over the next 10 years
✅ Increase taxes for American workers, seniors, and families
✅ Eliminate private insurance – including employer-insurance
– leaving 158 million Americans without coverage
✅Force more hospitals to shut down and cause doctor shortages
“Medicare for All” will take away your health care choice, increase wait times, and diminish access to care. Do NOT buy into the lie that socialized medicine is good!

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's Absurd Claim |
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has made headlines again with an absurd and disrespectful claim that our immigration detention facilities along the Southern border are the same as concentration camps.
To make this kind of a comparison is a slap in the face to every holocaust victim and survivor. I, unlike AOC, have seen these facilities with my own eyes and know that our Border Patrol Agents are treating every immigrant, alien or not, with respect. I have also walked through many concentration camps over the years – there is absolutly no comparison to be made.
I am astonished that Democratic Leadership continue to be silent while members of their own party make such appalling statements.

The Zionist Organization of America |
The Zionist Organization of America is the oldest pro-Israel organization in the US. It was a privelage to speak about US-Israel realtions at their "Mission to DC" event Thursday afternoon.
The US and Israel share a common bond. A bond founded on a commitment to democracy, the rule of law, freedom of religion, speech, dedication to human rights, and lastly, leadership in a world facing numerous threats and uncertainties. We must always stand with Israel because our historic alliance is the most stabilizing feature in an otherwise unstable region of the world.

Celebrating Juneteenth |
Wednesday, we celebrated Juneteenth Day – marking the end of slavery in Texas.
I am proud that members of my staff, Beverly Ferguson and Will Carter, were able to attend Monday’s Juneteenth celebration hosted by Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia. It looks like it was a great event!

Congratulating Josh Mendez |
Josh Mendez started as an intern in my office back in January and has accelled so much that we have kept him around ever since! He has been such a tremendous asset to my staff and me these past months and has dedicated many hours to the great people of Texas's 36th District.
Friday was Josh's last day in the office. On Monday, he will begin as Staff Assistant in the office of my friend and fellow Texan Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13). Thanks for all of your hard work, Josh! |
Meeting with Government-In-Action Youth Winners |
I was elated to meet with a special group of students this week. Every year the rural electric cooperatives of Texas sponsor a Government-in-Action Youth Tour to Washington, DC.
This year, more than 150 high school-aged youth from all across the Lone Star State earned a trip to Washington by winning either a speech or essay contest sponsored by their local electric cooperatives. Three of these students are sponsored by a co-op serving the 36th Congressional District.
It was a pleasure to visit with Julia Jackson of Buna, Katie Newman of Kirbyville, and Andrew Mathews of Jasper. I have no doubt that these three have a bright future ahead of them!
