FBI Reopens Hillary Clinton Email Investigation
The FBI's decision to reopen its investigation into Secretary Clinton raises serious questions about what was discovered in these emails and whether there was an explicit intent to violate the law. We already know that Hillary Clinton’s callous disregard for national security procedures through the use of her unsecured, private email server put America at risk.

American soldiers have gone to jail for doing much less than what Secretary Clinton has done. We are a nation of laws and must all be held to the same standard. I am hopeful that the FBI will carry out a full, thorough and transparent investigation in a timely manner. There is simply too much at stake.
Rep. Babin Helps Stop Seizure of Bonuses Paid to Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans
It was recently revealed that nearly 10,000 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans in California were being forced to pay back their reenlistment bonuses ten years later due to staff mismanagement. This is absolutely unacceptable -- and nearly all of you agreed with me in our recent constituent survey that action needed to be taken.

After hearing these reports, I promptly joined a group of my colleagues in calling on U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to immediately halt all attempts to reclaim these decade-old reenlistment bonuses. While I was pleased that the Pentagon relented and announced it will suspend its efforts, it is a shame that it ever got to this point.

As a veteran myself and the father of a decorated U.S. Navy Seal, I will continue doing all that I can to see that this never happens again. These men and women courageously served our nation at war and they should be honored – not punished due to the incompetence of government officials in California. In a twisted irony, this is the same Administration that on one hand demands these American heroes pay back their bonuses while on the other it refuses to recoup bonuses paid to VA bureaucrats that have failed to properly care for our veterans.
"Obamacare is a sick patient currently in a death spiral" - Rep. Brian Babin
The predictions of an Obamacare “death spiral” are becoming a reality as we found out this week that premiums for 2017 in the individual market are expected to rise 24 percent on average across the nation – forcing many Americans to spend hundreds of dollars more per month just to keep their government–designed health care plan. I am working to end this failed experiment that has cost Americans tens of billions of dollars and disrupted their lives.

The Obama Administration has been attempting to divert even more taxpayer money to prop up these failed plans and I have been and will continue to work to stop such efforts. It is long past time that we restore freedom so that the American people can choose a health care plan that meets their needs rather than a health plan that Washington bureaucrats design but refuse to sign up for themselves.
 Snap-Shots from the Week
Had the pleasure of providing Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership members on Wednesday with a congressional update on U.S. space policy, including our human space flight programs and commercial space ventures.
Enjoyed participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony for Kbrwyle’s Science, Technology and Engineering Headquarters in Clear Lake City, Texas.
While I was disappointed I could not be there to celebrate Justin and Stephanie Ellis’ new home from Building Homes For Heroes, I was glad our Regional Director of Community Relations, Lanie Brown, was on hand to represent our office in this exciting moment and present a flag and certificate on our behalf.
