U.S. Congressman Brian Babin
President Trump's First Veto
The President saw the crisis at our border, and he acted boldly and within the constitutional authority given to him by Congress to declare a national emergency. I have been proud to stand with President Trump, and with his veto we can finally take meaningful steps to secure our southern border.

Democrats Are No Longer Pretending
The Democrats are not even pretending anymore! Nancy said we must stop the wall so we are “not suppressing the vote of newcomers to America.” Since when are citizens of foreign nations owed a vote in our elections? I ran for Congress to serve American citizens, but Nancy’s words and actions suggest her party simply serves itself—even if getting power means undermining your lawful vote. Americans will see through this, and there is going to be a day of reckoning in 2020.

America to Become World's Largest Energy Exporter
Because of Republican policies, America is no longer dependent on foreign energy. In fact, we are projected to become the world’s largest energy exporter. As our oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) output continues to grow, much of it flowing out of Texas ports in my district, our days of being beholden to other nations, including many hostile to us, for our energy needs are over.

Special Council to Look into Hillary Probe
Well, this is long overdue! We know there was plenty of anti-Trump sentiment, along with plans of impeachment, from individuals working in the FBI and DOJ during the last presidential election. It is past time a new special counsel is created to look into these treasonous acts and the pathetic handling of the Hillary probe.

Flood Mitigation Projects in the Works
Wednesday, I had a great conversation with David Green, Deputy Director for the Coastal Resources Division for the Texas General Land Office. We discussed promising new flood mitigation projects to help prevent flooding that has plagued Southeast Texas. We have made great progress funding many of these projects, and I will continue working with state legislators and federal agencies to get these projects started.

Photo of the Week
Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton was in Washington this week with his wife Tammie and daughter Natalie. I am glad my staff could show him and his wonderful family around the U.S. Capitol. If you are planning a trip to our nation's capital, please reach out to my office!
Visiting with Members with the Credit Union
This week, I sat down with several representatives from AMOCO Federal Credit Union, Community Resource Credit Union, Education First Federal Credit Union, Mobiloil Federal Credit Union, Neches Federal Credit Union, and Sabine Federal Credit Union and had a very positive discussion about many issues including, data security, data privacy, and regulatory relief.
These individuals represent more than 300,000 credit union members that live in TX-36. Our credit unions have done a great job serving folks all across Southeast Texas, especially during Hurricane Harvey and other times of need in order to get people back on their feet.
Speaking at the Nehemiah's Vision 2:20 Glorification Dinner
It was a privilege to speak at Nehemiah's Vision 2:20 Glorification Dinner on Thursday.
This organization has done a tremendous job repairing and rebuilding homes destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.
Last month we passed the year-and-a-half mark since Harvey made landfall and Nehemiah's Vision has completed 75 homes with the help of more than 1,900 volunteers. That is more than 40,000 man-hours of labor!

L-R: Michelle Tubbleville with Orange County Disaster Recovery, Julie Reid, Director of Nehemiah's Vision, and Maureen McAllister, President of United Way Orange County.
We will be forever grateful to the numerous recovery teams and church groups, organizations and individuals from all over who took the time to come help rebuild our communities and our people put their lives back together.
