We have faced challenges as we continue working to recover from Harvey. But we are coming back stronger than ever, because that’s what Texans do!
Americans are more optimistic about the future than at any time in recent history, and for good reason! The Republican Congress and Trump Administration have created millions of new jobs. Paychecks for middle class Americans are finally rising after years of stagnating wages.
And, businesses have announced tens of billions of dollars in additional investments right here in South East Texas. These are all results of cutting expensive red tape, abolishing job-killing regulations, and cutting taxes that I believe were burdening the economy under the previous Administration's policies.
I have also worked to secure the southern border, rebuild our military, defend the Second Amendment, restore health care freedom, and fulfill our promises to our veteran’s priorities. You can find a full update on these important issues below.

Harvey hit us hard, but Texans are coming back stronger. We pulled together in the aftermath of the hurricane to help each other, and showed America that we are resilient and vibrant. Rebuilding South East Texas after Harvey has been my priority over the past 12 months, which is why I have:

The American economy is leading the world in economic growth and job creation, largely due to tax cuts and regulatory relief. America is now a more welcoming place for business expansion, and over the past 18 months, pro-growth policies have led to the creation of more than 3.7 million new jobs (U.S. Department of Labor), record investments in manufacturing, and unprecedented optimism about future growth.

| Securing Our Border |
| For 30 years Washington has promised border security but has failed to deliver. Congress must deliver on border security first. The immigration bill I recently supported, the Securing America’s Future Act (H.R. 4760), did just that. This bill would: |
✓ Build the wall
✓ End chain migration
✓ Mandate the use of E-Verify
✓ Close unaccompanied alien children and asylum loopholes
✓ End sanctuary cities
| Restoring Health Care Affordability and Improving Medical Care |

Repealing Obamacare - I voted for the House bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, which would have restored health care freedom and affordability, while also eliminating costly mandates.
Kidney Disease – As a Member of the Congressional Caucus on Diabetes, I led efforts to facilitate public-private partnerships to advance breakthrough kidney disease research.
Combating Opioid Addiction – I supported the passage of over 50 bipartisan bills to combat opioid addiction and focus on prevention, treatments, and protecting communities.

| Protecting Social Security and Medicare |
Securing Social Security and Medicare are priorities for me. These programs are contracts made between seniors and the federal government that must be kept, which is why I voted to protect Medicare and senior’s health benefits by abolishing Obamacare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) that would have enacted Medicare cuts.

| Fighting Human Trafficking |
Communities across America are safer because of action taken by House Republicans. We have passed dozens of bills to fight human trafficking, including the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, the Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign Authorization Act, the No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act, and the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act – all of which have been signed into law by President Trump.
