It was with great excitement that I spoke on the House floor this past week to congratulate President-elect Trump, Vice President-elect Pence—and most importantly—the American people on a historic victory at the ballot box. Make no mistake; this election was a resounding rejection of the status-quo in Washington. The American people have spoken loud and clear – and it’s now time we turn this historic moment into action.

| House Votes to Block Last-Minute Obama Regulations |
As he prepares to leave office, President Obama and his federal agencies have been working overtime to issue new, burdensome government regulations. According to the Washington Examiner, “President Obama just set a new record for rules and regulations, his administration spitting out 527 pages worth in just one day, as he races to put his fingerprint on virtually every corner of American life and business.”
This is exactly why the House passed the Midnight Rules Relief Act on Thursday to help prevent and quickly overturn any last-minute rules and regulations from the Obama Administration. The American people spoke loud and clear on Election Day – and they do not want any more excessive government regulations from this Administration.

| Honoring Veterans Across Southeast Texas |
It was an honor to participate in Veterans Day programs in Sour Lake, Lumberton, Woodville and Vidor last week and celebrate the brave men and women who have answered the call to duty and put their lives on the line for each of us. As a veteran myself and the father of a decorated U.S. Navy SEAL, I offer my many thanks to all those who have served for keeping us free and safe. We owe you a debt of gratitude that is immeasurable. May God bless you and your families.

Honored to be presented with the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” and an “A” rating from National Taxpayers Union for my strong voting record on behalf of lower taxes, limited government, and economic freedom. Given that our children and grandchildren will have to pay back everything that this generation borrows, we must give the greatest scrutiny to each and every dollar that is spent. That’s why I have consistently opposed wasteful government spending while fighting for reforms that shrink the size and scope of the federal government.
