Congress Passes Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Package |
Earlier this week, I joined the majority of my colleagues in voting for the coronavirus emergency supplemental package – which was signed by President Trump on Friday. As this global health crisis continues, and we see more COVID-19 cases confirmed in the U.S., it’s crucial to ensure adequate funding and the proper resources are in place at the federal, state, and local levels.
The $7.8 billion specifically for COVID-19 will be used to address the virus at home and abroad, including expediting vaccine development, combating the spread of COVID-19, purchasing essential equipment and supplies, and assisting state and local health departments.
I’m proud that Congress could put partisan politics aside and compromise on a bill that will meet this emergency head-on and protect the American people.

The Real Consequences of Socialism |
Venezuela is a prime example of what really happens under socialism. What was once the wealthiest nation in Latin America, is now impoverished and its people starved.
In the last three years, 15 percent of Venezuela's population has fled the country.
Don't let socialism win.

President Trump and Administration Officials Meet with Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Companies |
On Monday, President Trump, Vice President Pence, and key members of the Administration met with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies who are working to develop a vaccine for COVID-19 to see how the federal government can assist in accelerating progress. Our leaders are doing everything possible to keep us safe and ensure America is prepared to combat this global health threat.

Responding to the Situation in Turkey |
Turkey's weaponization of refugees in a time where the world is working to prevent the spread of COVID-19 endangers all – especially those residing and traveling within the E.U. I joined The Evening Edit to discuss this as well the immediate need for America to secure its own borders.

America Needs ICE |
If Democrats had their way and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was abolished, this monster would still be roaming free in our country. I’m grateful for the vital role that ICE plays to keep us safe every single day, and I will ALWAYS fight the absurd narrative that we don’t need them.

Requesting Swift Action for the Beaumont VA Clinic |
For too long have the patients receiving care at the Beaumont Community Based Outreach Clinic been subjected to less-than-adequate health care services due to circumstances outside of the local VA control.
As a Member of Congress, the son of a World War II veteran, a veteran myself, the father of a decorated Navy SEAL, and a health care provider, I believe ensuring quality health care, as well as continuity of care, for our nation’s veterans is of the utmost importance.

Meeting patients while visiting the Beaumont VA Clinic after Imelda in October 2019. |
My office and I will always work to support local VA administrators and officials who work tirelessly to serve those who have served us.

Additional Coronavirus Information |
The risk of getting the coronavirus (COVID-19) remains low in the U.S., but the proper precautions should be taken. The White House is working around the clock to make sure Americans continue to be protected.

Senator Schumer Knows No Shame |
Senator Schumer knows no shame – absolutely disgraceful. His threats toward Supreme Court Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch are inexcusable and dangerous. Chief Justice Roberts was right to call him out – all Democrats and the media should.
I’m not holding my breath for that to happen.

Remembering the Alamo |
On March 6, 1836, the Alamo fell after a 13-day siege by Mexican forces led by Santa Anna. The heroic stand by the 189 Texian defenders will never be forgotten.
Their willingness to sacrifice themselves for freedom and independence from a tyrannical Mexican government energized all Texans as well as the nation, which allowed Sam Houston and his forces to finally crush and defeat Santa Anna's army on April 21st at San Jacinto.
May we always remain grateful to those who contributed to our state's freedom and forever "Remember the Alamo"!

The Insane Costs of the Green New Deal |
The $93 trillion Green New Deal will absolutely bankrupt our nation and American families. There's nothing affordable or realistic about this insane bill.
Also, the vast majority of Americans don't have an extra $75,000 lying around each year to pay for it – sorry.

Calling for a COVID-19 Containment Plan Along the Southern Border |
U.S. Border Patrol apprehended more than 36,000 illegal aliens in January alone – what’s the containment plan for if AND when a legal or illegal immigrant crosses our porous southern border and tests positive for coronavirus? We need answers to these important questions immediately!
See the letter I sent to the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and Defense below:

Celebrating Texas Independence Day |
Monday marked 184 years since our great state adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence. The 59 delegates who signed this document were settlers in land claimed by the Mexican government but sought the freedom to form their own system of government. Texans of the Lone Star Republic were forced to take up arms to defend their newly declared freedom, and many died fighting for their right to self-govern.
Join me this week in remembering their courage and honoring all those who led Texas to freedom and liberty.
May God always bless Texas!
