Babin: Fighting Terrorism Goes Beyond Party and Politics |
|
I joined The Evening Edit on Fox Business on Tuesday to talk about 9/11, Al-Qaeda’s leader calling for terrorist organizations to launch future attacks on American soil, the TAPS Act, and more.
Fighting terrorism goes beyond party and politics, and this country will never forget what happened on 9/11. We have to make sure our borders are secure, and we are able to vet those trying to enter into our country.
We must also put bills in place like the TAPS Act so that state and local law enforcement have access to the threat assessment and management system the Secret Service has used to protect our presidents for decades. America remembers, and stands ready to face and defeat any threat that rises at home or around the world.

Record-Breaking Optimism |
The benefits of the pro-growth policies being advanced by the Republican Congress and the Trump Administration are being felt all around America and in TX-36. According to recent studies, small business optimism is the highest it's been in history, and 85% of blue collar workers see their lives as heading in the right direction.
There is no doubt that hard-working Americans are better off, but we must keep this momentum going. That’s why Republicans in Congress took steps last week to advance Tax Reform 2.0, which would build upon the success of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including making the tax cuts for middle-class families, individuals and small businesses permanent.
In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to working towards common-sense legislation that will help the American economy, and the great state of Texas, continue to thrive.

Meeting with TX-36 Constituents |
It was great to visit recently with Texas members of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC) National Council. The Middle East is full of threats, and as our closest ally and the only true democracy in the region, it's vital that we make sure Israel has the resources and support needed to defend its people and interests.

A Visit to the Pentagon |
I had the honor of going to the Pentagon to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11, and attend the promotion ceremony for my friend and brand new Brigadier General Tom Kunkel. General Kunkel currently serves as the Chief of the Air Force Liaison office in the House of Representatives and was a combat and rescue helicopter pilot earlier in his career.

I also visited with the Secretary of Defense, General Jim Mattis and also the Air Force Chief of Staff, General Goldfein and his lovely wife, Dawn.

I am grateful for all they, and the thousands of military service men and women they lead, do to keep our country safe.
