House Passes Series of Bills to Hold VA Accountable and Improve Care for Veterans
This week, the House passed a series of bills to hold the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) accountable, improve care and management for veterans, and protect the 2nd Amendment rights of those who have served in uniform.

✔ The VA Accountability First Act (H.R. 1259) – Facilitate the removal, demotion or suspension of senior VA employees who have failed to effectively serve our veterans.

✔ Improving Hiring at the VA (H.R. 1367) – Improves the VA’s ability to identify staffing shortages, recruit and retain high-quality employees, and quickly on-board new hires.

✔ The Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act (H.R. 1181) – Ensures veterans do not lose their 2nd Amendment rights simply because the VA appoints someone to manage their affairs.

America’s veterans deserve the absolute best care and services for their sacrifice to our country. As a veteran myself and the father of a decorated U.S. Navy SEAL, I am committed to seeing that our nation’s heroes receive the respect and treatment they have earned and deserve.
Obamacare Update: Enrollment vs. Reality
Obamacare is in a death spiral and the sooner it is repealed and replaced the better. Fewer Americans signed up for Obamacare this year than last. Only about one-third of those the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) expected to sign up this year actually did so. In fact, 20 million Americans said they didn’t want what Obamacare was selling.
Rep. Babin: Trump Budget Puts Government on Much-Needed Diet
President Trump on Thursday sent his Fiscal Year 2018 budget blueprint to Congress for review. I commend the President for putting forth a strong and responsible budget plan that puts government on a much-needed diet. It cuts wasteful spending, reins in government bureaucracy, secures our border and restores our military. This budget delivers on the President’s promise to refocus government and put the economic and national security of the American people first. After the past eight years, I am encouraged by this plan and look forward to working with the President and his Administration to ensure these reforms are signed into law.
