It was an honor to participate in the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce Congressional Panel Luncheon this past week, where I was joined by my colleagues, Congressman Pete Olson and Congressman Randy Weber, to talk about tax reform, Harvey recovery, and other important issues. Thank you to everyone for hosting us!

Protecting Our Communities |
The tragic shooting in Florida last weekend served as yet another heartbreaking reminder of why it is vital that we work together to prevent this type of targeted violence from occurring in our communities. While my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy in Jacksonville, we cannot afford to wait any longer - now is the time for action. 23 days ago, I introduced the Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety (TAPS) Act ( H.R. 6664). I believe that the solution to stopping these mass casualty events is through threat assessment and management, and my goal is to provide communities with the resources they need to utilize this lifesaving process.
Find out more about the TAPS Act by watching my video, and then spread the word about this method - it could save lives.

Babin in the News |
I joined 'Cavuto: Coast to Coast' on Fox Business last week to talk about President Trump’s trade deal, as well as his move to provide aid to farmers. America is always the first to be harmed by unfair trade practices, which is why I am supportive of President Trump’s efforts. While we make steps to correct these policies, temporary and limited financial support for the agriculture sector is a responsible solution to keep farmers in business and food prices stable.

Snap-Shots from TX-36 |
It was a true privilege to attend a home dedication ceremony for James and Maetha Debretagne in Silsbee, TX, whose previous home had been destroyed by Harvey. This was made possible thanks to a partnership between Hardin County Strong and Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Response, and I am grateful to these groups for their efforts.
I had the great honor of presenting Mrs. Alice Taylor with a Congressional Record statement honoring her late husband, R.B. “Bob” Taylor. Bob was a World War II Veteran and a leader within the Texas Gulf Coast community. He will be truly missed, but we will forever remember his many contributions to his country, state, and community.
