Babin’s Bill to Rename Post Office After Fallen Hero Passes House
I am proud to say that, H.R. 1250, my bill to rename the Post Office in Hardin, Texas after Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lucas Lowe, who tragically lost his life during a Texas National Guard training flight just after Christmas in 2016, has passed the House of Representatives and is now on its way to the U.S. Senate!

Lucas was a hard-working man who loved being in the service, and especially loved to fly. When the world lost him, we lost more than a dedicated patriot. We lost a man who always went out of his way to help lift others’ spirits and encouraged them to reach for higher success in life.

Admired by all, Lowe’s courage and dedication made him a natural born leader. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and lived his life with an optimistic spirit, always ready to take on the next big challenge. He will be dearly missed throughout the Texas Guard, the entire Hardin community, and by those family and friends he leaves behind.

It has been an absolute privilege to sponsor this bill that truly honors an American hero and ensures that his legacy lives on.

America is a Nation of Laws
America is a nation of laws. We cannot just ignore the laws we do not like and enforce the ones we do. The immigration laws that President Trump is trying so hard to implement are the SAME laws that many House Democrats voted in favor of in past years. What has changed?

Democrats are pushing open borders which will destroy our country – there is no other way to put it. This majority would rather inject race, political correctness, and identity politics into every single debate instead of working together to protect this nation and the American people – which is what we were ALL elected to do.

Anti-Semitism Continues with Zero Consequences for Democrats
The continued attacks on Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East, by the radical left are shameful but not at all surprising. Likening boycotting Israel to boycotting Nazi Germany – a regime responsible for decimating millions of Jewish people – is deeply offensive and ignorant. When will the Democrat majority finally stand up against this kind of anti-Semitic rhetoric? Will there ever be consequences for what Democrats say, or are those only reserved for Republicans?

President Trump's New Asylum Law Now in Effect
There is no reason why immigrants should not file for asylum in the first country they arrive at. It is obvious that the numerous loopholes in America's immigration laws are being heavily taken advantage of, and we cannot sustain the numbers of people currently flooding our borders. President Trump is doing everything he can, without the help of Congress, to disincentivize people from making the dangerous trek to our country.

Meeting Sully While Visiting Wounded Warriors
Monday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting President George H.W. Bush’s service dog, Sully, while visiting many of our wounded warriors currently in rehabilitation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Sully now works as a therapy dog in the hospital. As a tribute to this dog’s service to an incredible American hero, I pinned my own Airborne "Jump Wings" to his uniform!
It is an absolute honor to visit with service members, hear their inspiring stories, and let them know I appreciate their willingness to sacrifice all in the defense of this great nation.

Democrats Propose Another Terrible Policy
Hiking the minimum wage to $15 is yet another terrible policy proposed by House Democrats. This disastrous proposal could lead to more than 260,000 jobs being lost in the Lone Star State alone. America’s economy is thriving – why do members of the Democrat majority continue to introduce legislation that will greatly disrupt this progress?

 Appreciating Apollo 11
Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks (pictured below) and I wore our space ties Tuesday morning to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology’s hearing on the legacy of the Apollo program. We took a moment to appreciate the model of the Saturn V rocket that carried U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins to the Moon in 1969.
The Saturn V rocket was also displayed on the side of the Washington Monument this week thanks to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. It was magnificent to see a life-size projection of the very rocket responsible for landing our astronauts on the Moon. Its grand size occupied 363 of the 555 foot monument!

Photo of the Week
Being able to visit with folks from our district and welcoming them to our nation's capital is very special to me. This week, the Brown Family from Hardin County was in town! I had a chance speak with them before their tour of the White House on Thursday.
