Babin Surveys Flood Damage
- Meets With Victims and Emergency Response Officials -

On Thursday, we were in Orange, Deweyville and Bon Wier surveying the flood damage and meeting with some of the victims and first responders. We also visited the Orange and Jasper Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) to discuss the ongoing response effort to the devastating flooding that severely impacted Jasper, Newton and Orange Counties.

My heart breaks for those who have lost so much to the flood waters. However, I couldn't be more proud of how our communities have pulled together to help each other during these difficult times. That’s what it’s all about in East Texas. I commend everyone involved, especially our first responders, for their incredible response to this extremely challenging situation.

My staff and I have been working closely with everyone involved and will continue doing all that we can to help the victims and be a resource to our state and local partners. While the recovery effort will certainly be a difficult road ahead, our office will be there to help each step of the way.
Babin Reacts to Brussels Terrorist Attack
- Slams Obama's Disgraceful Response -
The terrorist attacks in Brussels are yet another reminder of the real and imminent threat posed by Islamic jihadists who have capitalized on Europe’s open borders and reckless refugee policies. We can no longer afford to turn a blind eye to what is taking place in Europe and allow the same mistakes to be made in the United States. ISIS is determined to kill more innocent Americans and they have shown that they will not hesitate to take advantage of weak immigration policies that allow them new bases of operations to further their evil and destruction. This level of threat requires a bold response and a hard look at our immigration and refugee policies. If we do not act, we will undoubtedly be confronted with the same evil and terror plaguing Europe.

While our European allies – and the entire world – were shaken by another ISIS-led attack, the President was in Cuba sitting next to Raul Castro watching a baseball game and doing the wave. This is an absolute disgrace. The President managed to only give the Brussels attacks 51 seconds of lip-service. The American people are rightfully concerned, but Obama only belittles such anxieties and moves on.
Wishing You a Very Happy Easter
Happy Easter to you and your family. As we celebrate God’s love and sacrifice today, I pray that you have an amazing and joyful Easter surrounded by the ones you love most. May we always remember God's love for us and the many blessings He's bestowed upon us. Let us also remember our brave service members who are separated from their loved ones on this Easter Sunday.
