Democrats Reach First 100 Day Mark |
Friday marked the first 100 days of the Democrat majority under House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Here’s what we’ve seen so far:
✅ Violate First Amendment
✅ Infringe on Second Amendment
✅ Harass the Administration
✅ Lie about the President
They have done nothing to help our citizens besides vote on messaging bills that stand absolutely no chance of passing in the Senate and reaching the President’s desk. We saw all of this in merely 100 days which leaves one to wonder—what’s next? Is this really what the American people want?

Rep. Ilhan Omar's 9/11 Comment |
Rep. Ilhan Omar said "some people did something" on 9/11. The truth is 19 radical Islamic terrorists murdered nearly 3,000 innocent Americans on 9/11, 2001. She also said "the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was founded after 9/11/01." I must admit I am surprised to find myself as a fact checker on this matter, but CAIR was founded in 1994. So that should tell you right away how much thought she put into this speech.
If Rep. Omar was a private citizen living in Minneapolis posting on Facebook that would be one thing, but she is one of 435 in the United States House of Representatives. Her words matter, and she should not get a pass on them just because she is new to Congress.
Let me be clear, this is not about her faith. Throughout my tenure in Congress I have served with Rep. Andre Carson, who is also a practicing Muslim Congress member. He and Rep. Omar are both very liberal and we rarely agree on the major issues of the day. The difference between him and Rep. Omar is that every week she manages to sow discord with half-baked and offensive commentary. It is very disturbing to me that a Member of Congress would diminish one of the greatest tragedies our country has ever seen and insult the victims and the families of those whose lives were changed forever on that day.
The New York Post's published this front page in response to Rep. Omar's comments. |
It is often said that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. We are now seeing a generation come of age that was not alive in 2001. Although 9/11 was 18 years ago, we must never let the events of that day to be papered over with generic words that downplay the significance of the attack on America and all we hold dear. It is our duty to enlighten them, to keep the reality and the memory of 9/11 alive and strong in our minds to prevent a similar event from ever happening again.

Babin Reintroduces I-14 Legislation |
As the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial is finally being built in Washington, I cannot think of a more fitting way to honor him than to pass my bill the I-14 Expansion and Improvement Act of 2019, reintroduced this week, that furthers his vision of creating an interstate system that connects America’s military assets, businesses, and communities from coast to coast.
I-14 is already known as the ‘Forts to Ports’ highway, and our goal is to build upon that success with further improvements, including a nonstop interstate connection from Goodfellow Air Force Base in West Texas to the strategic seaport in Beaumont. I-14 will finally give countless communities access to the benefits of an interstate highway, with a design and implementation process run by state and local transportation authorities, not Washington bureaucrats. Even in this time of divided government, I believe this is the kind of project that Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate can work together with the Trump Administration on to accomplish.

Babin: DHS Needs Five-Year Plan |
With Democrats refusing to acknowledge that there is a border crisis—much less propose a solution—the new leaders at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should develop a five-year plan to lay before Congress encompassing the funding, infrastructure, manpower, and technology necessary to secure America’s borders and keep them that way.
It is past time we create a strategy to prevent this type of national security and humanitarian crisis from recurring in the future. The crisis on our southern border continues to put our nation in jeopardy and imposes a massive financial burden on American taxpayers by the hundreds of thousands of illegals who are allowed to stay in our country indefinitely. It must be addressed and corrected NOW. |
The Democrats' Plan for the Internet |
This week, I was pleased to join President Trump down in Texas, but I was disappointed that the Save the Internet Act passed the House. I would have proudly joined with my Republican colleagues in voting against this bill. The title may sound noble, but do not let a clever name fool you. This legislation would restore Obama-era internet regulations while promote more regulations on broadband internet services that pick winners and losers.
I believe that reducing government control and unfair or discriminatory practices is the key to the Internet’s continued prosperity and advancement. We must ensure that consumers have access to the Internet both in the near-term and the long-term without overreaching regulations, and that the laws in place stimulate broadband investment, deployment, and innovation. |
Photo of the Week |
I was glad to see two great leaders of Chambers County, Barbers Hill Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole and Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, in Crosby on Wednesday with President Trump as he signed two executive orders that will propel America’s dominance in energy production that will strengthen our economy and create more jobs.

Meeting with the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons |
I had a great visit with the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons earlier this week where I was honored with their Outstanding Legislator of the Year award.
Several of the Texas Chapter members are proud alums of Baylor University, The University of Texas, Texas Tech University—and we did not miss our chance to congratulate the Lady Bears on their NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, the Longhorns on their NIT Championship, and the Red Raiders on their phenomenal run all the way through the Final Four. 29 million Texans and countless more across our great country are so proud of you all! |
