Iran Deal Undermines
America’s Security and Must Be Rejected
President Obama’s announced “nuclear deal" with the Islamic Republic of Iran must be reversed as it paves the way for a nuclear-armed Iran and threatens the security and safety of the American people.

By legitimizing an Iranian regime that sponsors terrorism throughout the world, routinely chants ‘death to America’ and is responsible for killing hundreds of American service members, the President’s deal sets the world on a dangerous and treacherous path.

In April, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz promised that international inspectors would have ‘anywhere, anytime access’ of Iran’s civil and military nuclear sites under any agreement. Unfortunately, this deal sets forth no such requirement.

Furthermore, this deal fails to even secure the release of the four American hostages being held by Iran’s government – and has no acknowledgement by Iran of Israel’s right to exist. It also provides the Iranian regime with over $100 billion in relief from international sanctions, creating a massive new revenue source for the Iranians and their continued financing of terrorism across the globe.

With a sixty day review period set before Congress votes to approve or disapprove the deal, I’ll be leading the charge to expose and defeat this terrible deal to protect the safety and security of the American people.

Babin Denounces
Disturbing Planned Parenthood Video
— Urges Immediate Action —
The video revealing a senior Planned Parenthood official discussing the sale of body parts from aborted babies is absolutely appalling and illegal. It's a stark reminder of why we should cut off all taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. I was sworn into office on January 6th and on January 8th I cosponsored H.R. 217, which would ban taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood – the largest abortion provider in the United States.

As a nation, we must take a stand against such repulsive and horrific actions. At a minimum, a full and thorough investigation is needed to hold those accountable and make certain it never happens again.
It’s encouraging to see the U.S. Congress and Texas Governor Abbott taking the lead on these efforts — they have my full support.
Chattanooga Terrorist Attack
I'm deeply saddened by this past week's terrorist attack that was carried out by Kuwaiti born Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez. Our thoughts and prayers are with the four U.S. Marines who were killed and their families during this very difficult time.

As ISIS and Islamic terrorists continue to target our service members at home and abroad, it's critical that we allow them to carry their own personal firearms to ensure they have the protection they need to defend themselves at all times. I'm hopeful Congress will take this action soon.
NASA's New Horizons
Spacecraft Reaches Pluto
After a decade-long journey through our solar system, New Horizons made its closest approach to Pluto this morning — making it the longest journey any spacecraft has flown from Earth to reach its primary target.

This exciting feat demonstrates our limitless appetite to know what lies beyond Earth and furthers our hopes of sending pioneers deeper into space. Our investments in planetary science and space exploration press the limits of technology, nurture our inquisitiveness and drive innovation here on Earth.

Also - in case you missed it - the first set of images collected by NASA’s New Horizons have come back – and scientists are blown away by what they are seeing! To see the pictures, please click here.

Snap-shots
 from the Week
Had the pleasure of meeting NASA Astronauts Reid Wiseman and Butch Wilmore at a recent event on Capitol Hill highlighting NASA’s Journey to Mars.
Enjoyed meeting the Hankins family from Clear Lake, Texas, before they set out on their U.S. Capitol tour.
It was great having Hale Hughes and his daughter, Hallee, from my hometown of Woodville, visit our DC office.
Hallee won an essay contest with over 65,000 participants, and was chosen as the regional representative of our area for the National Campaign to Stop Violence. I am so proud of this bright, young woman and I know that she has an exciting future ahead.
