Freshman Class: Rep. Brian Babin
|
I recently sat down with Fox News to discuss my goals and priorities as the new Representative of Texas 36th Congressional District. As I share in the interview, I’ve had my career and I'm not looking for a new one. I am here because I am worried about the future we will be leaving America’s next generation, which includes my 12 grandchildren. With an ever-growing national debt, an out of control border, a shrinking military budget, and a nonexistent foreign policy, it’s time to take a stand and fight for a better America.

Listening to Our Veterans
|
Clear Lake Veterans' Town Hall
We recently hosted a "Veterans' Town Hall Meeting" at the University of Houston Clear Lake in order to hear directly from our local veterans. On hand were a team of professionals to answer questions and help veterans resolve issues with the VA. At the event, I also had the special honor of presenting Gideon Jones of La Porte with his Prisoner of War Medal in recognition of his heroic actions in WWII.

Orange Veterans' Town Hall
On Tuesday, we held our Orange "Veterans' Town Hall Meeting" at the local American Legion Hall. The message from our veterans was very clear: they feel neglected and are deeply frustrated. As a new Member of Congress, I am committed to doing whatever it takes to see that their concerns are met and they receive the quality and timely care they have earned and deserve.

| Putting a Stop to Human Trafficking and Smuggling in Texas |
We recently hosted a "Human Smuggling and Trafficking Forum" at San Jacinto College with local representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, FBI and DHS to promote awareness and identify solutions to combat this heinous crime in our area. As a community and a nation, we must work together to combat these crimes, whether you’re law enforcement, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) or a citizen with interest in stopping this horrendous practice.

Had a very informative tour of Tyler County Hospital and meeting with hospital administrator Dr. Sandra Wright, as well as each department head. I'm very proud to have such a successful rural hospital right here in my hometown. Thank you to everyone at the hospital for their dedication and hard work.
I had the pleasure of touring Air Liquide’s Bayport industrial complex in Pasadena to learn more about the facility and its recent $230 million expansion project. The facility – which services large industrial customers with chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel – provides our area with good-paying jobs and demonstrates why we are the world leader in energy development.
Enjoyed meeting employees and customers while touring the Walmart in Liberty, Texas. Thanks to everyone who took time to show me around.
I visited Houston’s Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center on Monday to tour the facility and learn more about what steps need to be taken to ensure our local veterans receive the quality and care they deserve. |
