Babin Applauds Court Decision to Block Obama's EPA Water Rule
|
|
On October 9th, a federal court blocked President Obama’s "Water of the United States" rule, which if implemented would grant the Administration unprecedented authority to regulate virtually all water flows in America, including ditches and farmland ponds. This ruling is a major victory for farmers, ranchers, and property owners in Texas. The fact that the EPA thinks a tire rut in a field should be regulated as a ‘navigable stream’ tells us all we need to know about the bureaucrats behind this federal power grab. With the Court's decision, it's time the Administration withdraws this outrageous expansion of government.

| Rallying Support for Israel and an Undivided Jerusalem |
It was a pleasure to serve as the keynote speaker at The Church Triumphant's Jerusalem Call in Pasadena, Texas, on Monday evening. Great to see so many people come together in prayer for this important cause and join together in such strong support for our ally Israel.

| Babin Cosponsors Bill to Ensure Social Security is Protected and Debt is Paid |
With the United States expected to surpass its $18 trillion federal debt limit on November 3, 2015, I believe it is important that Congress passes the Default Prevention Act (H.R. 692), which instructs the U.S. Treasury to meet certain pressing financial commitments should the federal debt limit be reached. Specifically, H.R. 692 takes three important steps:
✓ Guarantees that Social Security benefits continue to be paid to seniors;
✓ Ensures that the principle and interest on the national debt is paid so that there is no default; and
✓ Prohibits Members of Congress from being paid until the debt limit is resolved. |
Hearing Examines Impact of President’s Budget Cuts on U.S. Space Program
|
As the Chairman of the House Space Subcommittee, I recently held a hearing to examine the impact of the President’s nearly half-a-billion dollar cuts to programs being developed to return U.S. astronauts to deep space destinations, such as the Moon and Mars.
Even though Congress consistently rejects the Obama Administration’s proposed cuts year-after-year, they still have a negative impact on the success of these crucial programs. The annual budget uncertainty that the Administration perpetuates is irresponsible and impairs NASA’s ability to manage these programs efficiently.
