We touched on the importance of strong, reliable infrastructure, America's fantastic economy, and the Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act that President Trump signed into law last week.

World War II veteran and Tyler County resident Mr. Alonzo Randolph celebrated his 100th birthday on Monday! It was a privilege to speak with him and show my appreciation for his selfless service to our nation.

| 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima |
Wednesday marked the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima – where nearly 7,000 Americans sacrificed their lives in defense of our country. U.S. Marines and Navy sailors fought for weeks to secure the island – which was home to strategic airfields – from the more than 20,000 Japanese soldiers already dug into it very deeply. Thanks to so many brave Americans, we were victorious in this fateful venture.
I can’t look at Joe Rosenthal’s photo of the six Marines raising our flag atop Mount Suribachi without feeling an overwhelming sense of pride and appreciation. Join me this week in remembering and honoring those who fought relentlessly to ensure their mission was complete and America was triumphant.
