This week, I spoke on the House floor about how Texans are already benefiting from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The relief families are receiving is enabling them to help their children pay for college, lower their debt, finish repairs on their homes damaged by Harvey, and providing many other benefits. Meanwhile, small businesses are expanding, creating more jobs and growing our economy across Southeast Texas and the nation.

| Law Enforcement and School Administrators Failed |
Warning signs were going off for years about the Florida school shooter. Surprisingly, those who could have prevented this tragedy either ignored the warning signs or failed to connect the dots. There were multiple calls to the FBI, dozens of calls to local police, constant run-ins with school officials and warnings from parents and neighbors. The real issue here is why were these dots never connected?

Our Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have enough to worry about without sanctuary city mayors like Libby Schaaf of Oakland, tipping off criminal aliens that ICE is planning arrests and deportations. This aiding and abetting of criminal behavior must be stopped.

This week, the House took a major step to rein in websites that fail to take common sense safeguards to combat their websites from being used for sex trafficking. The evil and inhumane act of sex trafficking must end and this bill will help do that.

Babin Meets with Governor Abbott
I had a very productive meeting with Governor Greg Abbott and the bipartisan Texas Congressional delegation about Harvey relief efforts. Now that the federal funding has been provided, localities and the state government have the resources to begin fully implementing our recovery and rebuilding plan.

Attended The 15:17 to Paris Movie with President and Heroes
Had a great time at the White House on Tuesday with President Trump watching the new movie The 15:17 To Paris. It was an honor to meet these American heroes - Alek Skarlatos and Spencer Stone - who took action to stop a Muslim extremist from carrying out a mass murder aboard a Paris-bound train.
