Babin Hosts Series of Disaster Recovery Town Hall Meetings
Over the past several days, hundreds of constituents took advantage of our Disaster Recovery Town Hall Meetings in Lumberton, Orange, Mont Belvieu and La Porte to speak directly with agency and disaster experts. At these events, local residents were able to get their questions answered from FEMA, SBA, FSA, NFIP and other state and federal agencies about the resources available and the roadblocks they have encountered. It is our hope that these meetings were useful in helping folks get the information they need to fully recover and rebuild.

Babin: “We Are Bringing Our Staff Closer to Your Home Through Mobile Offices”
Our staff continues to bring in-person assistance directly to local communities across the congressional district. We have held several dozen mobile office hours – including more than a dozen this past week alone. At these one-on-one meetings, our staff is able to help local residents navigate the recovery process and provide access to a computer. As we plan more in the weeks ahead, please do hesitate to call us at 832-780-0966, 409-883-8075 or 202-225-1555 if we can be of any assistance.
Harvey Congressional Update and Aerial Tour
Along with Speaker Paul Ryan and a bipartisan group of my Houston-area colleagues, we received a briefing at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Houston on the recovery efforts from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas National Guard and others. We then embarked on an aerial tour of affected areas and proposed projects to mitigate future flooding, including critical infrastructure plans like the Coastal Spine.

FEMA/State of Texas Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in 36th District of Texas
Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) have been set up in several areas of Texas' 36th Congressional District to offer in-person support from FEMA, SBA and other state and federal agencies on applying for disaster assistance. I am actively working with local and state officials to see that additional DRCs are opened to serve our constituents.
