Voting NO on Speaker Pelosi's HEROES Act |
Once again, Speaker Pelosi has placed the safety and wellbeing of American citizens at the bottom of her list of priorities.
House Democrats have used every opportunity possible to exploit the ongoing national economic crisis and global pandemic to push their radical, Green New Deal, open-border, socialist agenda. It’s absolutely disgraceful that the Speaker of the House and a narrow majority of Representatives knowingly ignored the needs of U.S. businesses and the American people for the sake of messaging.
This bill never stood a chance at becoming law – Senate Majority Leader McConnell will not take it up and even if it somehow passed, President Trump would veto it. For that, I am relieved.

House Democrats Vote for Illegal Aliens to Receive Stimulus Checks |
Friday night, House Democrats clearly demonstrated that they care more about the prosperity of ILLEGAL ALIENS than American citizens. Don’t be fooled by their partisan games!
Nancy Pelosi's Socialist Wish List Act (HEROES Act), an alleged COVID-19 relief package, is packed full of benefits for illegal aliens. Why does the Speaker of the House and her liberal Democrats continue to choose to prioritize those breaking our laws over law-abiding American citizens?

Reasons Why I Voted NO on the HEROES Act |
Before the vote on Friday evening, I took time to share a few thoughts from my office in Washington on why I would be voting no on H.R. 6800, the so-called "HEROES Act" that Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat majority passed in the House.
NOTE: This video is a bit lengthy, but unfortunately there is a lot not to like in this 1,800-page, $3 trillion bill!

The DOT Improves Hours of Service Rules for America's Truckers |
On Thursday, I was informed by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao, about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) improved hours of service (HOS) rules issued for America’s truckers.
As the Congressman from a district where reliable and up-to-date transportation is so vital to the success of our economy, I’m pleased about the Department of Transportation’s new HOS rules to help our nation’s truck drivers who have been so essential during the ongoing pandemic.

The PPP is Helping Southeast Texans |
As the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) continues to help numerous small businesses across the nation survive this difficult time, I’d like to highlight a specific business being helped in Southeast Texas!
Mark and Joy Cooper, the owners of Lercy’s Diner with locations in Mont Belvieu and Winnie, were able to secure a PPP loan and save the jobs of 25 employees between their two Chambers County restaurants. I’m glad that the Lercy’s Team is still together, and can’t wait to return soon for a great homestyle lunch!
Mr. Cooper is to my left in the photo below taken at a Small Business Roundtable that I conducted last August at Lercy's Diner West.
Has the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) helped keep your small business open and pay your employees? If so, please take a moment to share your story by visiting the link below!

Speaking at the Baytown Rotary Club's Virtual Meeting |
I joined the Baytown Rotary Club's virtual meeting on Wednesday to speak about the federal government’s response to COVID-19, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), and COVID-19 testing. We also discussed critical infrastructure projects, such as deepening and widening the Houston Ship Channel, dredging Cedar Bayou, and the I-10 San Jacinto River Bridge.
While we weren't able to be together in person, calls like this are important in order to stay connected with residents, businesses, and organizations as well as to stay updated on current issues and events occurring across TX-36.

Consequences of COVID-19 Prisoner Releases |
This is a sad consequence of using this pandemic as an excuse to free criminals. This tragedy could have been prevented, had this prisoner stayed in jail.

Second Anniversary of the U.S. Embassy Moving to Jerusalem |
Thursday marked the second anniversary of President Trump officially acknowledging Jerusalem as the rightful capital of Israel by moving the U.S. embassy there. I'm grateful for Israel – America's strongest Middle Eastern ally.

Fighting for American Oil Producers |
We cannot sit idly by as the oil market is still in turmoil – with American oil producers facing an uncertain future amid the ongoing pandemic. To prevent a horrific energy collapse, we must act now.
I’m urging the federal government to purchase U.S. oil ASAP and invest in our Strategic Petroleum Reserves!

Recognizing National Police Week |
This week is National Police Week – a time to honor the heroes in blue who serve our communities and pay tribute to those who have given their life keeping us safe.
In Southeast Texas, we are blessed with some of the finest law enforcement officers in the nation. From our County Sheriffs to our Game Wardens, I personally couldn’t be more thankful and proud of the men and women who protect our communities.
To all the men and women in uniform—past and present—we thank you. God Bless you, your families, and the entire law enforcement community.

Need to Know: Jail Break Provisions in the HEROES Act |
Speaker Pelosi’s HEROES Act doesn’t just waste trillions of dollars, it threatens law-abiding citizens from coast to coast with jail break provisions for creeps like this guy.
Fortunately, President Trump will veto if it ever gets to his desk.

Congress Needs to Reopen |
It’s past time for the House of Representatives to get back to work. We are asking American businesses to reopen all over the country and essential workers have never stopped, yet Speaker Pelosi won’t allow the nation’s leaders to go back to Washington.

Congratulating the U.S. Space Force, ULA, and Boeing on a Successful Launch |
Congratulations to the United States Space Force (USSF), United Launch Alliance (ULA), and Boeing on the successful launch of the Atlas V rocket this morning! ULA’s 139th successful launch carried the Boeing X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) for the United States Space Force to low Earth orbit. This is the X-37B’s sixth mission and will include experiments on orbit to further our knowledge of operating in space. I’m proud of the hard work of those who made this successful launch possible.
Did you know that the Boeing X-37B OTV (pictured below) is one-fourth the size of the Space Shuttle and can land autonomously on a runway similar to the Space Shuttle?
