| Remembering WWII Veteran Charles Cody |
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Pearl Harbor veteran, Charles Cody of Pasadena. Mr. Cody was aboard the U.S.S. Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
After the battleship was torpedoed by the Japanese, Mr. Cody swam to Ford Island and began to take care of injured sailors. He went on to bravely serve in the Pacific Theater and the North African campaign until World War II came to an end.
In February, I had the great honor of presenting Mr. Cody with an American flag that I had flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of his military service. He belonged to one of the greatest generations of men and was a true American patriot.
