On Monday, I met with my friend and Mayor of Seabrook, TX, Thom Kolupski, on the Capitol steps. Mayor Kolupski and his family were in Washington, DC, to attend the funeral of his late father, a decorated WWII veteran who was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
Eugene Kolupski served in the European theater with the 885th Heavy Bombardment Squadron. The 885th never dropped a bomb; instead, they dropped OSS agents behind enemy lines, along with weapons and supplies to the French and Italian resistance.
It was my privilege to present the Kolupski family with a statement I submitted into the Congressional Record as well as a U.S. flag, flown over our beautiful Capitol, in honor of his father – a brave American hero and member of the Greatest Generation.
