Flight on Air Force One

On Monday, I was able to ride back on Air Force One with the President to Washington, D.C. after the Cruz rally in Houston. It was a great flight as we discussed the foreign invasion approaching our southern border. I am happy to report that the President fully agrees that under no circumstances are the thousands of illegal and criminal aliens going to be allowed to step one foot across the border into Texas.

Attending the Fourth National Space Council Meeting

On Tuesday, I attended the fourth National Space Council Meeting at the National Defense University at Fort McNair in Washington, DC. Vice President Mike Pence led the council in sending six recommendations to President Trump. Importantly, the Vice President recommended the creation of a United States Space Command that would control our military space operations, as well as the establishment of the Space Force as the independent sixth branch of the military that would organize, train, and equip American space forces. I applaud the work of the Administration in prioritizing space as a unique warfighting domain. It was a pleasure to visit with the Vice President, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine (pictured below), and the rest of the Space Council and attendees. As the Chairman of the Space Subcommittee in the House, I am looking forward to continuing to work with the White House as we ensure America is the preeminent spacefaring nation in the world. Exciting things are on the horizon!

Meeting with Ambassador Lighthizer

This week, while I was in Washington, I met with Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, the U.S. Trade Representative, to discuss how the Mexican Government continues to bully our American manufacturer, Loadmaster Universal Rigs, Inc. We had a good discussion and my hope is that the Trump Administration continues to stand up for American business in the global markets. America should not be taken advantage of by other countries, in terms of trade, business deals, or anything else. It is time we stand strong and protect the interest of our own companies first.

Military Service Academy Interviews
Every year, it is my distinct pleasure to nominate sharp young men and women to different military service academies. These high school seniors work hard to gain admittance into one of the four prestigious military academies in the nation. Yesterday, we had our candidate interviews by a panel of several community leaders and business owners from across TX-36. I want to thank each of the 23 applicants for getting their necessary documents turned in, working so hard, and being willing to serve their country. (Congressman Babin visiting with interview panelists below).
Honoring Henry Childs
I am proud my office could honor Korean War veteran Henry Childs on his 90th birthday as well as the 50th anniversary of his lumber business that he started out of the back of his truck half a century ago.

Lanie Brown, Regional Director of Community Relations on my staff, presented Mr. Childs with a certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for his selfless service to our country and amazing accomplishment of the American Dream. The certificate was presented at the recently restored Orange Train Depot where Mr. Childs held his first job when it was still the Southern Pacific Railroad many years ago.
Visiting with Members of the Texas Hospital Association
I met with members of the Texas Hospital Association in Pasadena to discuss various issues and concerns about healthcare policy.
Veterans Breakfast
As a veteran myself and father of a decorated Navy SEAL, I have a deep appreciation for the brave men and women who defend America and the many freedoms we all enjoy. I am also proud to represent the more than 50,000 veterans who call the 36th Congressional District of Texas home.

I was able to attend the Veterans Breakfast that was held at the San Jacinto Church in Deer Park on Thursday. I am fighting every day in Congress for America’s veterans and their families. They deserve the utmost respect and gratitude for their service and sacrifice to our country. I have actively supported the passage of several bills to improve the care of our nation’s veterans — including bills to streamline the appeals process, hold VA bureaucrats accountable, end the abuse of wait lists, prioritize veterans hiring and provide a cost-of-living increase for disabled veterans.
I can assure you that protecting those who have protected us is a priority for me and will be a cause I continue to fight for. Thanks to all who attended this fantastic event!
Conrad Shipyard

Conrad Shipyard in Orange has built North America's first LNG bunker barge. I was able to tour the shipbuilding facility this week and am both impressed and extremely proud that such an awesome product was constructed in my Congressional District. Keep up the great work!
