- Babin Votes Against Spending Bill -
Opposes Taxpayer Funding of Planned Parenthood, Obamacare & Amnesty
On Wednesday, I voted against a short-term government spending bill that failed to cut off taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. Few things are more important than protecting the lives of innocent, unborn children because it goes to the very core of what it means to be human. There is absolutely no excuse in allowing continued taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood in light of their disgusting and illegal efforts to harvest tissue from aborted babies.

Unfortunately, Congress has once-again fallen short of using its Constitutional authority to protect American taxpayers from funding this corrupt organization. It is undeniably wrong that American taxpayers are being forced to hand over their hard-earned tax dollars to the largest abortion provider in the nation.

This bill also failed to receive my support because it lacks the critical provisions needed to prevent taxpayer funds from being used to carry out the President’s unconstitutional executive amnesty actions, as well as his disastrous health care law and dangerous nuclear deal with Iran. Going forward, I encourage all my colleagues to strengthen their resolve and fight harder in defense of the American taxpayer and their priorities.
Babin Helps Lead Effort to Reinstate American War Hero
In 2011, Sgt. First Class Charles Martland confronted an American-backed Afghan commander “for keeping a boy chained to his bed as a sex slave.” The Afghan commander also admitted to beating the boy’s mother for telling the U.S. military about the assault. Instead of commending Sgt. Martland, the Army has forced this honorable soldier to retire from the U.S. Military.

In response, I've joined my colleagues in supporting a House resolution calling for his immediate reinstatement. This decorated American war hero should be celebrated for speaking up and protecting the innocent -- not punished! This injustice is absolutely unacceptable and must be reversed.

Babin Blasts President's Veto Threat
On Thursday, I voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2016, a bipartisan bill that authorizes pay and benefits for our service members and ensures they have the tools and resources needed to defend our nation.

Remarkably, President Obama has said that he will veto this legislation in an effort to extract more spending for bloated and runaway government agencies like the IRS and the EPA. It's a shame and a disgrace that the President would use our men and women in uniform as ransom to advance his big-government agenda. The President needs to immediately abandon this dangerous and foolish strategy. The stakes are too high.
New EPA Ozone Regulations Put Jobs in Southeast Texas at Risk
The EPA’s newly announced ozone regulations are unnecessary, unworkable and will destroy thousands of American jobs -- with few areas feeling the impact more than Southeast Texas. Texans care deeply about keeping our air and water clean, and we have been able to do so while also leading the nation in creating new jobs. These new regulations put all of that success at risk.

EPA actions should be balanced and based in reason. Let’s fully implement the current regulations before adding new, unachievable regulations. We should also measure that success through an open, transparent and fair analysis of the improvements made in cleaning up our region’s air. To read more, please click here.
