Babin: California Terror Attack Shows That Focus Must Be On Militant Islamists
  - Continues His Fight to Defund and Block Obama's Syrian Refugee Plan -

Our prayers go out to those killed in the senseless shootings in California carried out by radicalized Jihadists. Unfortunately, liberals – including President Obama – immediately called for more firearm restrictions on law-abiding American citizens. The focus needs to be on the threat posed by militant Islamists, including those radicalized right here in our own midst and those who might come in with Obama's Syrian refugee program or through our unsecured southern border.

Islamic terrorists are determined to kill more Americans – and our current refugee program creates vulnerabilities that invites ISIS sympathizers into our country. With the support of 74 of my colleagues, we've made it clear that a provision needs to be included in the upcoming spending bill that would defund and suspend the Obama's Syrian refugee plan and restore to Congress the authority to stop and the oversee the details of the restart to any such program.

As I explained to Newsmax TV, the entire U.N.-run refugee resettlement program is broken and needs to be immediately suspended. In addition to the obvious security concerns, our local communities are being flooded with foreign refugees who do not assimilate and overwhelm their school districts, hospitals and welfare programs. I will not relent in my efforts to stop this dangerous program and defund Obama's Syrian refugee plan.
Congress Rejects EPA Regulations as Obama Returns from Paris Climate Change Meeting
While the President was in Paris foolishly committing the U.S. to a U.N.-led Climate Change Plan that will only increase energy costs and cause more financial burdens for Americans, the House passed two resolutions that would block the implementation of these so-called EPA Clean Power Plan regulations. The two measures now await the President's signature or veto. The Clean Power Plan is an unworkable cap and trade energy scheme that will eliminate thousands of jobs, shut down coal plants and mines across the country, and make electricity more expensive for Americans – particularly in Southeast Texas. Unfortunately, but predictably, President Obama will veto these bipartisan measures – showing just how out-of-touch he is with the American people.
At a recent House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology hearing, I also had the opportunity to ask a series of questions demonstrating just how outrageous and costly this plan will be for the American people - while providing little to no benefit to the environment.

On Wednesday, I had the special opportunity of speaking with NASA Astronauts Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren via a downlink from the International Space Station (ISS). As a career dentist and the current Chairman of the House Space Subcommittee, I spoke with them about the challenges of health with long-term exposure to zero gravity.
