The U.S. Constitution is our nation’s founding document. The separation of powers between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government are key to the proper functioning of our Republic. Our founders knew that for our nation to survive we must remain a nation of laws, and not become a nation of men. While the Judicial and the Executive Branches have grown more powerful, the Legislative Branch – the part of our government closest to the people – has lost power and authority. And the many runaway federal agencies in Washington have been more than willing to step into this vacuum.
It was Ronald Reagan who told us that the closest thing to eternal life is a federal program. Federal regulators, particularly under the Obama Administration, have been working overtime to expand their authority. This stack of papers is what’s called the Federal Register. It’s made up of proposed and final regulations that have been issued by unelected, unaccountable Washington bureaucrats since I was sworn into office in January 2015. This is just 18 months of regulations!
This mountain of bureaucracy is costing us jobs, making us less competitive and killing innovation. There is simply too much government involved in our daily lives, our schools, our health care decisions, and the products and services we purchase. House Republicans have a
better way. We are working to rein in these federal agencies, preserve states rights, limit the actions of courts and restore the balance of power by reasserting Congressional authority. Please check out the steps we have already taken and other initiatives we are advancing to reverse this dangerous trend at
