Happenings Around the 36th District
During our recent District Work Week I traveled across the East Texas visiting with hundreds constituents on a wide range of issues. From joining with others to honor the heroes of Harvey, to meeting with local pastors, mayors, seniors, local economic leaders and students, it was a pleasure to speak with so many of you and learn how hear how the conservative agenda is benefitting our local communities.

Today's newsletter is a quick round-up of some of the places and people we saw along the way.  If you want to see more photos, be sure to check out the Facebook page. Thanks to everyone for joining!  And, if you want get these weekly newsletters in the future, click here
Babin Hosts Pastor Advisory Council Meetings in Woodville and Deer Park

On several occasions each year I have the privilege of hosting Pastor round table discussions with pastors from each region across the 36th Congressional District to discuss and pray over issues facing our churches, communities, and nation. These men and women of God, from different denominations, discussed and prayed over a wide range of issues.
Babin Introduces Legislation That Will Benefit Local Petro-Chemical Factories
As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I recently introduced the Municiple Infrastructure Savings and Transparency Act. This legislation would open up the bidding and development process for federally-funded public works, and allow them to incorporate innovative and cost-effective building materials into the projects.  This bill offers a a simple but critical reform to our federally funded procurement and project development process by returning authority and and responsibility to the construction professionals who know it best. You can read more about the legislation on my website.
Little Cypress Mauriceville's 409 Strong Commemoration

We are still in the midst of recovery in East Texas following Harvey's devastation. The LCM Foundation's 409 Strong commemoration gave me an opportunity to honor those responsible for swiftly responding to Harvey as well as those who are currently engaged in rebuilding Orange and surrounding counties. Some of these heroes include our Louisiana neighbors and the Cajun Navy. Thanks to everyone who continues to aid in the rebuilding efforts.

Meeting with Local Mayors

It was a pleasure meeting with local mayors from Morgan's Point, Baytown, La Porte, Deer Park, Taylor Lake Village, Spring Valley Village, and Mont Belvieu.  We discussed Harvey flood recovery, tax reform regulatory issues, the coastal spine, and infrastructure legislation, including my bill that will benefit local petrochemical factories when it comes to federal infrastructure projects.

Babin at the Economic Alliance Public Policy Meeting

I spoke with attendees at the Economic Alliance Public Policy meeting on strong job growth resulting from the GOP tax cuts and regulatory relief.

Visiting with the Silsbee ISD Robotics Teams

I was able to stop by Silsbee Independent School District to meet with the robotics teams from the Elementary, Middle, and High School campuses. It was amazing to see the ingenuity and passion for STEM and robotics demonstrated by these students.

 Liberty Dayton Business Leader Roundtable
It was an honor to join local business leaders in Liberty and Dayton to hear directly from them about the impacts that federal policies are having on their businesses and the benefits that tax cuts and regulatory relief are having on their businesses.

Speaking at Polk County Health Fair

Several hundred folks joined us as the Polk County health fair, where we discussed the health care, taxes, infrastructure improvement, and the importance of protecting Medicare and Social Security.

JSW Steel Announces Plans for Expansion
It was great to attend the unveiling of plans by JSW Steel to expand their factory in Baytown by investing $500 million and creating hundreds of new jobs. Lower taxes and less burdensome regulation are benefitting our community, creating jobs here in America, and expanding U.S. steel production while reducing our reliance on foreign steel.
