An Important Fact to Remember
|
Over the past few weeks, Democrats and the media have been remarkably eager to place blame on President Trump and Republicans for violent incidents committed by police on African Americans. Unfortunately, this has led to ongoing protests, violent riots, and the takeovers of sections of U.S. cities (e.g., Seattle).
While our government is grappling with how to address the division in our country – including current discussions in Congress and the White House on police reform – let’s not forget that the overwhelming majority of the crimes highlighted by the media take place in a state or city under Democratic leadership. The same Democrat Mayors, city councils, Governors, and state legislatures who are screaming that change to law enforcement is overdue, have ironically possessed the opportunity and authority to reform their law enforcement for years – and haven’t. Blaming their inaction on the Trump Administration and Republicans is a common tactic employed by the Democrats to pass the burden of responsibility off of themselves.

| The Port of Houston Set to Receive $79 Million |
I’m proud that President Trump is focused on infrastructure improvements right here in Southeast Texas. This $79 million will be vital to restoring and strengthening the Barbours Cut Container Terminal – helping to bolster the Port of Houston, which remains crucial to the success of the U.S. economy.

As Justice Thomas said, we must see Thursday's SCOTUS ruling for what it is, "an effort to avoid a politically controversial but legally correct decision." President Obama's ability to create DACA should give President Trump the right to halt the same program.

| Recommending Houston as the Home for U.S. Space Command |
This week, I led a bipartisan letter with Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) to U.S. Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett recommending Houston, Texas be selected as the permanent home of the recently reestablished United States Space Command.
Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base is a perfect fit for the headquarters of this unified combatant command. For decades, we have led in space, and we continue to do so to this day. In fact, Houston’s leadership over the years has earned it the moniker "Space City." It would be a wise decision for Ellington to be chosen as the permanent home of USSPACECOM. After all, first small steps and giant leaps are what we excel at.

The mainstream media shamefully relishes in exaggerating stories and information to frighten and mislead Americans when they should be reporting the FACTS. Why aren’t we seeing this information shared? Only 11 U.S. counties out of 3,100 are seeing TRUE accelerations in new COVID-19 cases.
