Babin Speaks at Deweyville High School Graduation
- Honors Graduating Class for Hard Work and Perseverance Through Historic Flooding -
|
It was an honor and pleasure to serve as the keynote speaker for the 2016 Deweyville High School Graduation. I couldn’t be more impressed with these 56 graduates. They showed tremendous perseverance and leadership in how they responded to the unprecedented floods that took so much from their community. Congratulations to each one of these inspiring young men and women for their commitment to education, community and serving others. I have no doubt that they will take the life lessons they learned from this situation and use them as positives in the next chapters of their life.

Local High School Students Accept Service Academy Appointments
|
I’m excited to announce that seven local high school students whom I proudly nominated earlier this year will be attending U.S. service academies. I wish them all the best as they seek to further their education and honorably serve our nation in the U.S. Military. I would also like to thank the members of our academy nominating committee who interviewed the candidates and dedicated considerable time and effort to making sure our academies have the best candidates to consider. The following students have accepted their appointments:

| House Unanimously Approves Babin Amendment Prohibiting Federal Contracts With Iran |
On May 26th, the House unanimously adopted my amendment to prohibit any contracts or federal assistance to the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a result of Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal, Iran will now receive up to $150 billion in assets – creating a massive new revenue source for an apocalyptic and dangerous regime that routinely flouts international norms, threatens to wipe Israel off the map, captures and humiliates our U.S. Sailors, and is responsible for the murder of hundreds of American soldiers. My amendment wipes the slate clean and prevents any more taxpayer money from going to Iran. While the overall legislation that included my amendment failed to pass the House, I will continue doing all that I can to hold Iran accountable.
